Okay but how do they work I see where the exit nozzle is on the base where I'm going to assume the sound comes through are the plates nothing but a resonance chamber to change up the sound I don't see how putting a faceplate can drastically change the sound of the Iem ,I just don't

They alter the electronic crossovers, they're not a physical or acoustic filter.

It sounds like the higher price is in part for the time spent tuning 4 BA's to seamlessly blend together. Not every higher end iem needs multiple driver types jammed into a shell. The swappable faceplates are clever but poorly executed, especially considering the price. Since this is for monitoring in a professional environment they can get away with using a larger box. Use that to hold the shells in place while swapping faceplates and as storage. Add in a magnetic tray for screws and screwdriver holder. Most of this could probably be cut into a denser foam sheet and made relatively compact.

great review - if you think that was a big box, check out the volare's box. massive. as for the price, $750? i surmise that the mega5est trounces this set for $200 less. and i mean demolishes it. still waiting for my custom febos hisenior box.
