Instead of memorizing yet another formula--especially one that will not come up very often- why not just note that the area from 3 to 8 is just 3 + 4 + 5 +6 + 7 (ie 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 - (1+2)). We have a formula for adding up the first n counting numbers. Sure your formula (x^2 - x)/2 is exactly the formula I used but you seem to saying that it is another formula. In my opinion, since students always come first, why not show them what it really is! BTW, you're the man. I don't usually watch low level videos like yours but every day I find myself watching your videos!

I just learned today that functions can be terms in equations. For instance. f''(x)+2f'(x)=3f(x) Or y''+2y'=3y And you can arrange the equation like you would with any other. For instance the equation i listed has 2 solutions. And those solutions will be functions. Rearrange the equation to fit the form of a quadratic. So that... y''+2y'=3y becomes y''+2y'+3y=0 Now its in the form of a quadratic. Learning first order diff. equations today.

Hello, I'm unsure whether it would be possible to have an indefinite integral for the floor and ceiling functions. as they are not derived I don't think it would make much sense, but I'm in doubt.

F(x) = (x^2 -x)/2 + floor(x)*{x} + c, is a possibility?

I am tempted to say yes, but try if for both lower and upper integration limits not being integers. If it works , then you have a universal formula. otherwise, you'll have to refine it.
