that MCM nightstand you grabbed for the wife to restore is marked on the back with "Gunstock, Wal" that's the stains used to finish the piece, Gunstock being a lighter warm coloration and Wal being Walnut

Hi, you did great! The mask is not for welding though, but is a face shield used by hygenists and others who might be exposed to bodily fluids that could infect them during the course of their work; sometimes a simple face mask does not, when worn alone, offer adequate protection; as in surgical procedures... but these clear masks are also used by people who have asthma, or CPOD who can suffer a triggered attack by wearing a mask which cuts down on their available oxygen. Welding masks, on the other hand, are made of solid composite designed to protect the welder from facial burns, neck burns, eye surface burns and retinal burns. They also have a plate that the welder can see through. It is designed to let in only the non harmful light necessary for the welder. Different grades of filters are designed for the specific type of welding that the welder will be using it for. Love your videos; they are very informative, thank you for teaching us newbies so much.

Yes. I have a video on the shed but I have a ridge vent and other cents to circulate the air and I have it covered on the silver lining to reduce the temp 20 degrees in the summer
@ULK2LSE5 жыл бұрын
To give you a heads up the 3M shield is just a Faceshield, so something doesn't kick up and hit you in the face. I'm going to guess the Z number is Z87 which is the ANSI certification and + means it's approved for impacts of the clear shield part. When you were picking it up I was saying no no no it's worth under $10 new on amazon. You are correct though if that would have been a welding helmet you probably would have made out on it.
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I didn’t figure that out until after I made the video which makes sense since it’s a wood shop. Lol. Anyway, that’s what the comments section is for. Thanks!

When it comes to those vcr/dvd combos, how do you go about testing them before purchasing?
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter5 жыл бұрын
Just find an outlet to power it on and bring batteries to test the remote. If those things work there’s a 99% chance that when you bring it home and hook it up that it’s going to play fine.

The helmet reminds me of the movie "Animal House" . It seems to me that the helmet was part of the ROTC. The sayings on the helmet sound like so of the insults that were used in the movie. I haven't seen the movie in 25 or 20 years. So I might be wrong.

The military liner is real and may be from the Viet Nam era, there is no way to know. The outside paint and writing is definitely not "period" correct. Those liners were used with a steel "pot" helmet but they were also used on their own and could be painted, mainly white. In the early 80's they were replaced by the Kevlar helmet which required no liner (insert). On the new intro it is nice, I would give it a 9/10.

Thanks, yeah, that off period Writing is what prevented me from purchasing it.

About the vault piece: Because it says "compliments of", I would look into promotional items for vault mfrs. It looks like a flat head screwdriver...could not tell for sure in the video. Maybe the mfr gave them to customers, maybe funeral homes, who buy their merchandise. Just a thought. About the intro: Very nice, but I don't look at any of them. I skip over them all. I always use my headphones to listen through and all the intros are just too loud. LOL I don't mind the short ones that are a few seconds with a fun logo moving in and out...like Locker Nuts.
