@@nathanfrazier8525 RJ Wrote it in the 1980s and published in 1990 when Sanderson was 15. Its such an Iconic poetic line though; up there with one ring to rule them all. Sanderson's greatest influence was RJ... and the wheel of time. prepare to be overwhelmed :D

All I know for certain is that I’m uncertain about this. The Eye of the World is one of the greatest books I have ever experienced, and because i have such a deep appreciation for it, it may be impossible for a television series to get it just right. @@CaptC4t Late in his life RJ added a new prologue to one of the later editions of The Eye Of The World showing Egwene and Nynaeve ~3 years before the events of the story. It's likely a scene from that. Chapter is called Ravens. It's not in versions of TEOTW from before about 2003 and not in all of the ones from after either.

I Listened to the same album on repeat always while reading each fantasy series. Then FOR YEARS , when you hear that music and you close your eyes you just go there. This was Talking Heads ' Stop Making Sense' .My god the power of it all.

actually that might have been a bad thing. since the show has very little to do with the book. The dragon was never considered a hyrda. Morraine went to the two rivers because of clues but didnt know what she would find their. plus all of the other little things they got wrong and all the things they added that screws up later seasons/books. just yeah. Books are great but they could have done it correctly but choose not too

I think you will be pleased. Brandon Sanderson was chosen by Jordan's wife who was also his editor to fulfill the role and finish the story. I was in the very same place you were in at the time. A few years after it was finished I allowed my self to read it and ended up very happy with it. I came to admire Sanderson because of it. You will be thrilled you finished it. I still get chills when start that chapter about Tarmon Gai'don and the Last Battle on the Field of Merrilor.

This trailer literally brought tears to my eyes. I started reading this series when I was 16, 31 years ago. It quite literally shaped my life. My children are named after characters from the series. I have tattoos inspired by this series. I am who I am because of this series. Ironically, I moved to Robert Jordan's hometown to further my career. I've driven down ogier street several times for no other reason than to say that I've done it. This series means the world to me. I met Robert Jordan during the Winters Heart book tour and it will forever be a highlight of my life. Thank you to everyone that had a hand in making this television series happen. To see it come to life is something that I honestly never believed would happen. The fact that it is so freaking amazing is just overwhelming. I pray that the Eye of the World prologue starts the series. That is hands down my favorite scene in the entire series and what got me excited to keep reading. Thank you again to everyone involved. I'm quite sure I will be bawling my eyes out watching the first episode. I can't wait!

@@_Stormfather I'd say that the one knock against the trailer is that the series visually doesn't appear radically different from say The Witcher on Netflix--the questions is whether or not the WRITING team will do their jobs. If the writing for the series is excellent, the visuals won't matter so much. I remember Game of Thrones looking good in 2011, but it didn't particularly stand out in any fashion, and it wasn't as imaginative as say my head canon is, but the writing and performances were so good that that made up for it. If that makes sense to ya! :)

Same - magic is really hard to get right i think cause so often it can just be really cheesy but this looks awesome. I especially love how it visualises them weaving the power like its described in the book

@@4amforever518 so without trying to be too spoilery it draws a lot of inspiration from yin and yang, so there's the female source and the male source (you briefly saw Logain using power there) - they're essentially two sides of the same coin though (as in they can do pretty much all the same things) You'll find that there are significantly more female channelers than male, and the reason for that will be explained as the show goes on

@Turtle To be fair, the books certainly focus a lot on Moiraine a lot in the first book as well, but even then it's clear she's not the protagonist. As for Egwene, hopefully they write her better in the show than in the books. Like so many, (including Rand tbh) she starts out likeable then becomes really annoying to the point of wanting to skip her chapters all together. Nynaeve is probably the most infamous for this, except she doesn't even start out likeable, lol. I've heard this changes for most characters once Brandon Sanderson takes over, but I'm still slogging through Crossroads of Twilight and Perrin's agonizingly slow chapters at the moment, so I wouldn't know.

To be fair a lot of the written work DOES revolve around Moiraine and her interpretations and actions especially early on.

@@bradleyharper7073 I agree, but even then she's clearly not the protagonist. A fan favorite to be sure, but this trailer doesn't even hint that it's ultimately a story about Rand. I think he only appears in it for a total of like 3 seconds, and I don't believe he gets a single line. So it's kind of false advertising unless they completely change the story to meet [current year] standards of storytelling. But that's just my opinion. I hope it will be good, but this trailer certainly has me wondering if they're trying to be controversial for the free marketing.

@@usnairframer it’s the opposite for Nyn. She starts out unlikable but becomes one of the best perspectives later. IMO Rand starts neutral and ends up with amazing character progression. Perrin is just ok all the way through. Mat is just fantastic. Egwene is probably the worst character just based on the whole…well if you know you know. Her whole arc just feels contrived imo

Goes to show how bad the whole series will be. A myrdraal should be able to cause fear with it's presence. No big dumb teeth necessary. If you don't have even that much subtlety, there's no way you could pull off something with as many currents as The Wheel of Time.

It's pretty accurate to what a lot of the artwork looks like that I've seen. I'm sure when it's mouth is closed, Grateful, it will be terrifying to look at - but people who haven't read the series might need a visual queue for the terror/fear of a Fade; us who have read the books infer that fear subconciously. So...I think the series will do well and be solid. We shall see.

I never had a good mental picture of the Hall of the Sitters... the vision of the White Tower and the Hall fits perfectly! I'm right there with all the other 30-40 year old's commenting. I've read this book series through multiple times and was skeptical that it could be adapted. The visuals and tone of this trailer have made me a believer. The Manetheren blood runs strong in the Two Rivers!

They don't align for me, though imagination is what it is. I always had a Tardis-like vision of the White tower in that it felt cavernous on the inside and more sleek on the outside. If anything, the small sets and huge squat CG buildings are the opposite of that. That bridge into Tar Valon is super-cringe though, way too traditional and not the single, sweeping, physics-defying arch of the books. I'd say in general the architecture and costuming is way too traditional and boring considering the attention it was given in the books, though clearly that was impacted by budget. Hopefully the writing and acting is good - we didn't see any of that in this trailer.

@@devoltar I agree with you, I'm not a fan of the look of either Tar Valon or the Tower. Or the Hall. I don't see a lot of room for the large, expansive gardens I seem to recall reading. I really don't like the placement of two Ajah flanking the Amrylin like that, it implies a sense of allyship or support that I just can't see the first Aes Sedai of the Tower being okay with (let alone three thousand years of remodeling upholding it). Besides, who wants to sit that close to Siuan? Or worse, Elaida?

@Luke Robinson It seems they want to make the identity of the Dragon Reborn a mystery, making the audience wonder whether it’s Rand, Mat, Perrin, or perhaps even Logain, which fits so much better in a TV Show, since they tend to focus on big reveals and mysteries that keep people talking weekly. This also serves as a chance to give a bigger focus to Moiraine, a character that, in my opinion, carries the earlier books alongside Lan and I was left wanting more about, which is perfect, because now they also get to fully display Rosamund Pike’s star power. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the choice, and I’m pretty they will introduce the concept of Ta’veren and the Dragon Reborn before the season even ends, this just gives them an opportunity to make the books better for TV and highlight the importance of some other characters, because while it’s only the three main boys that are Ta’veren, people like Lan, Egwene, and Nyneave also made huge changes in the world (I would argue Egwene’s importance is second only to Rand, and Mat doesn’t really do much that impacts the world on a large scale until like the last fourth of the books)
