They're both tragi-comic characters, but its pretty clear which side of the equation that they skew. I suspect that they'll tease the trajectories you suggest, but both will ultimately fail back toward the middle. Perhaps a better way of saying it is that while A-Train might try to redeem himself and the Deep might attempt to be more villainous...they're both going to be very bad at it.

Maybe if you have read the comics like 15 years ago, you'd learn that this was the exact concept of the series. BTW two series approached the same theme in the same time: "The Boys" (2006) did it in a vulgar, glory form, while Marvel's "Civil War" (2006, once again, the comics, not the stupid MCU version) did in a sophisticated way.
