While I’ve always loved that nolan teaches him the lesson he tried to teach him in season one but in the right way. That you can’t hold back and you have to use your strength to save people not conquer them.

Nolan really only wanted Mark to hold off each Viltrumite on Thraxa, not beat them. Nolan knew he could beat each Vitrumite as long as he fought them one at a time. Mark distracted Lucan and held off Thula long enough for Nolan to finish off Vidor. Mark actually did his job successfully on Thraxa
