Many years ago I was told the best way to cook carp. Mix cow manure and mud, cake the gutted carp with it all and put on hot coals, turning occasionally. When done, break open the shell, throw the fish away and eat the shell

Here's how I prepare carp. First I filet like any other fish. Place the filets in a skillet with half an inch of water and cover. When the filets are cooked through drain off the water and place the meat in a large bowl. Crumble the meat and carefully pick out all the bones. Be very thorough. This will take some time. I like to do it in front of the TV. When you've picked out all the bones just add breadcrumbs salt pepper and chopped onions. Press into patties and fry or bake. Similar to salmon patties or crab cakes. Delicious. You won't have many leftovers.

why cook them in water? does some of the gross carp flavor *leach out into the water which you then throw away?

@LWTUA1206093 жыл бұрын
@@mattnlogan101 Carp is only gross if it lived in mud a lot like in a muddy lake. Carp which live in running water is actually a good tasting fish. Where I live we treat those gross mud carps by leaving them alive and let them swim in a bathtub with fresh water for a day or two. This really helps and sucks out the mud flavour. :)

As someone who lives in England. Carp are really common and they make any water muddy because they dig down for their food, unless there are lots of surface landing insects. The best way to eat carp is so keep them alive and put them in a tub (I use my bath tub) in clear water for a couple of days. That way they get rid of all the impurities and then they are really good eating when baked on an open fire. Carp love clay water beds but will survive well in muddy or silt beds. So it is always best to keep them alive and put them in clear water or cook them in milk. It takes out all the bitterness.

I've found with carp, catfish and bass if you soak them in salt water and freeze them submerged overnight it firms the meat right up ...I know a lot of your milk comes in bags in Canada...but just use a big plastic jug with the top cut off to freeze them .. key thing with carp is cut out the mud vein along the lateral line...they do smoke up nice Bullheads and catfish are great with an overnight soak in buttermilk

Just how much acid does The Addicted Squirrelman drop every day? Or, is it moonshine. I always thought that Pierre Berton, Charles Templeton, and James Randi were our most intellectual Canadians. Who knew that such a cranial phenomenon as The Featherbrained Duckman was festering in "The Royal City" of Guelph, Ontario? Does that mean that The Beaverbrained Beardbreath comes from a long line of Queens? Who would have guessed? They'll love him to death in the Ozarks.

some word of advice from a fisherman from europe : you need to bleed out carp pretty good before eating. usually you do this by giving the carp a knock on the head to make him unconscious , but dont kill him ! Then make a cut at the main bloodvessel between the heart and the gills .... this way the heart is still pumping and it pumps out all the blood over time .... this way you havemuch less strange taste like mud and earth ....

@@TheWoodedBeardsman puppy chow or small cat food is good for scouting panfish spots, the food floats about five minutes usually so the fish may not come to it immediately but they always come up close enough for a look, or a good shot. could also try poking a few little holes in a can of sardines, tie a strong bit of line to it and toss it in a deep spot.
