Primitive Grilled Fish Wrap from the Ocean

Coastal areas of the oceans often offer the most abundant wild food sources. Fish and mollusks are obvious but one often overlooked food are the various species of marine algae. Kelp is a good survival food and in this video I swim out into the waves in search of giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) and then bring a basket of kelp to my primitive hut where I hang it outside to dry. A few days later I bring a fish I had caught in the surf and wrap it in the dry kelp to grill it on the adobe stove for a healthy dinner. FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Who films you?
I do. I travel alone, shoot, edit, upload, everything.
How many cameras do you use?
Usually I use just one camera. When I have underwater scenes then I also use a GoPro camera. I get different angles by moving the camera around and repeating the action to create a more cinematic viewing experience for the audience.
Where is this place?
In order to protect the integrity of the natural landscape I prefer to be very vague about the locations I use. There are places that I used to visit that were so beautiful and untouched but the consequences of social media brought all kinds of people to visit and sadly some people do not respect nature and have badly damaged these places. Therefore I do not share exactly where I go.
Do you workout?
Yes, I workout, but not in a gym. I have some weights that I use and also do a lot of bodyweight exercises. I also run and sometimes swim. I hike frequently do collect wild foods and to shoot these videos so I'm very active all the time.
Are you vegan or vegetarian?
I wish I could maintain my health on a primal diet that does not include animals but unfortunately that did not work and I ended up with health problems as a result of those attempts. From my studies, observations of nature, and personal experience I have come to believe that the best diet for optimal human health is a primal diet (paleo).

99.99% of Americans would give up on primitive living within an hour. Literally within an hour. It’s work, nonstop. Sun up to sundown. If you don’t you don’t have something you will need and then you are behind. Every environment has its own challenges.

Nenhum guaxinim te atacou as algas? 🙏💚🤠

But everyone I've been to the beach with told me it's not edible 🤷 I guess they were wrong 😐 I've had packaged processed Nori it's VERY good so I'm not going to ask you what the fresh kelp tastes like, probably the same only better. But what's the TEXTURE of the fresh kelp, is it easy to eat ? And why did you put the slime on your face ? ( I don't know what else to call it ) I'm assuming it's a natural sunblock 🌅 Thank You for the video Chad everything looked delicious 🙋

How do you get so many different shots and camera angles? Did that camera float on the water? That's so much work and time. Or do you have a helping hand?

Janno it’s called clips and editing. And it’s not that hard either.

It would be hilarious if he showed us a basketball with a camera tied to it. The basketball's name, of course, would have to be Wilson. Hahaha

It is a lot of work and time to get all these shots. I reset the camera several times. I built a raft for the camera to float on the water.

@@ChadZuberAdventures I bet you spend, just for the part of the Video, where you are in the water, several hours filming and reseting cameras. Great work!

Please, my friend, build many things in your area and develop your house like a rudimentary heating system.

6:23 & 11:11 I'm interested to know what the Kelp taste like both before and after cooking. I live in Canada and never been to either coast, we can purchase kelp in stores but that means a lot of processing nothing ever tastes the same fresh.

You should do a update to your hut like a little table chair that's if you want to you don't have to do it if you don't want to
