My forest brother and sister from Estonia visited me and showed me an unique technique how to burn clay vessel. I have not seen this one before and I think it is amazing because it gets up high in temperature and makes coal which burns after the initial burn. Because it is buried the cool down is slower which is important otherwise the stuff will crack.
This is not an educational video per se but if you pay attention to all the details it will take you a long way.
Some tips:
Let the pottery dry for at least two weeks.
Don’t cover it completely before you light it. It is easier to manage the fire and se that it lights properly.
The hole should be in the direction of the wind so it blows into it.
This technique was supposed to be a workshop at my Workshop Weekend ( www.workshopweekend.se ) but we had to have it after. So we made this video to share to everyone instead. The instructors are Erki Vaikre and Janne Loite from www.estlander.org In Workshop Weekend 2024 we will do some more pottery 😊
Enjoy and I wish you all the best!

So wonderful to see this channel posting. Rick was the single most instrumental person in me starting my KZbin channel. One day I hope to be as skilled as he was in bushcraft and even his beautiful filming style. I'll be forever grateful for the impact and influence he's had on my life. Not just my life, but also the life of my children as they are connected with nature through me because of this man's influence. Thank you so much! Rest in peace, man! ❤

When I saw Nagualero in my subscriptions bell I said I have to watch this. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. A video in the spirit of Nagualero. From the beginning it felt like a meditation,The forming of the clay, the digging of the hole, the setting of the wood and placing of the vessels, lightning of the fire, covering it and finally the slow removal of the coals and the finished product. A work of art, a masterpiece in motion. Thank you for this. Make more!
