WoW! Thank you so much! I'm new here :) I have learned more from you in one day than on any of the other videos I've ever watched, and there's been a lot of them! LOL. I actually am going to give designing a go. You've taken the mystery out of it...and thank you for that. Peace to you :)

Deana , Thank you for the Tracing paper tutorial for Rug Hooking/Punch Needle Art. I have no artistic ability whatsoever, but as Deanne Fitzpatrick says, you don't have to be an Artist !! I LOVE that. I want to create my own , even if it is just crazy lines , shapes, etc!! Thanks again. :)

Thanks for e-mailing back. No I'm not on facebook - closed out. and our computer service is very,very, slow. I live "what's known as exhausted system" on our rural road - with many,many, people who are not within a larger town,city, etc. bountry. Here is the promblem. Wentzville is abt. 40 miles from where I live. St.Peters is longer away. Columbia is known as St.Peter's distance. When I started to look at your "fellow hookers" I was truly amazed. Thank you...Denice

Hi - Deanna - what backing and size holes are you using for the witch yarn hooking please. X
@RibbonCandyHooking2 ай бұрын
I use a lot of different backing so it really depends on whether i'm working into linen, monks cloth, or rugwarp. Hook with everything from super super wide ripped strips to really thin sock yarn.

I'm confused! I am watching your videos and want to start this hobby. But I don't know if I'm looking at the back of the design or do I hook the year "2020" in backwards? I know from your other videos that the punch hooking is worked from the back of the design, that the work in progress is actually the back of the product. Is that the same philosophy with rug hooking? And how to I prevent all this work from snagging and ripping out?
@RibbonCandyHooking2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenny, you are right. This is one of my older videos where I was still struggling with some of my clips being mirrored. The clip in the last minute of the video is mirrored and the real project, a rug hooking project, is shown reversed; with rug hooking you work on the side that will be displayed (the real project you see in the last minute has 20 20 in the corners). You will find with both punch needle and rug hooking that in the finished rug the loops will fix each other and snagging and ripping out will be minimal; especially is you finish the edges by binding them (I have a video about finishing your rugs too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJLHk42YmtyFq6c)

@@RibbonCandyHooking Okay, thank you for your response. Now I understand! Although, there for a while, I thought you were Super Woman and your "Super Power" was that you could write backwards! I was very impressed! I have to tell you that I not only have enjoyed and learned from your videos, but I continue to be drawn all of your videos because you show that you are just as real as the rest of us out here and you deal with the same issues that we do (barking dogs, lawnmowers, running kids in the background of videos.) Thank you for putting the realistic spin on your very informative videos. I don't know you personally, but feel like I have a friend all the way across the continent from me! (I live in beautiful Alaska!)

How do you transfer from tracing paper to cloth?
@RibbonCandyHooking4 жыл бұрын
I usually do the sulky transfer pen method if I'm using monk's cloth or linen. I did a video on that, transferring with a transfer pen. Sometimes I use netting, I did a video on that to transferring your design with netting. If the design is on the complicated side I try to use the transfer pen. It comes out clearer with more detail.

I'd say parchment over wax. Still, I think its cheaper to buy a roll of the Alvin tracing off Amazon. It comes in lots of lengths and widths and will be a better buy.

When taping with a camera/phone the image is reversed, a mirror image. There is a way through the app when recording to get the image to reverse (somewhere). We are looking at the mirror image of the real world in the video.
