I couldn't obviously "feel" what it was like to be in the basket, (does it feel like you're floating) the scenery was beautiful. Your girlfriends quite the looker too. Belated birthday wishes to her. I've wanted to go on a hot air balloon the majority of my life but I have a big fear of heights! I've been trying to overcome it, I've recently been on a skyrail cable car but does anyone have any thoughts on if the hot air balloon would be too much? I figure if I get scared I just won't look down but I'm not sure if it's as easy as that.

Hi! I am a student pilot. Lots of pilot fly with people who are afraid of heights. We tell people It's not the height your scared of, what your scared of is falling. In a balloon, you feel very stable, and people who are afraid of heights usually aren't scared when they go up. Hope this helps!

I'm a private hot air balloon pilot as well as a commercial-licensed airplane pilot. Those with fear of heights usually don't have a problem in a balloon. The reason is that you move with the wind and it feels like you're standing on a tall building. As McKenna said..."you feel very stable." Go for it! It's wonderful!
