The Choctaw tribe sent aid to the irish during the famine. Despite not having much themselves. Ireland still remembers this and built a statue in their honour and sent them aid during the recent crisis. Its a touching anecdote I think. And the worst thing is that the british held off on sending them aid because they culturally loathed the irish and saw them as deserving of their fate. Ireland still seem to have an identity around the experience of being seen as being of less worth than their neighbours. This seems to have made them more empathetic towards the oppressed as a culture.

Great to see this song getting rated. Primordial are a fantastic Irish band for many years. This song in particular is very poignant about the famine in 1845 that caused millions of deaths and hundreds of thousands tavelled to the US on the coffin ships where most peoples died.

I like a song with great meaning behind it. :)

Great reaction video to this great song. There are not many rock or metal songs about The Great Irish Famine, apart from 'Fools Gold' by Thin Lizzy. I think Cruachan has a good one about the Famine as well.

This was the first song that I heard from this band, still my favourite. The Coffin Train by Diamond Head is a good track.
