If/when Roglic goes on to win this Vuelta, this may be seen as a masterclass from Red Bull/Bora. They probably did not want to give O'Connor so much time early in the race, but ever since that point, Bora/Roglic has done everything right. They have been patient, realized they did not need to win every stage and they took time when the opportunities came up. Very impressive by the entire Bora team. Additionally, the fact that it was just announced that Bora is brining Dan Bingham on board signals to me that they have the resources to try and establish themselves as a dominant GC team going forward. It will be interesting to watch this play out of the next few seasons.

Best to kick back and let a 2nd tier gc rider and team try to control the race. It's made for the breakaway to win giving young riders like castrillo a chance to shine. I like the Vuelta better than the Giro or the Tour. At the Giro everything is somehow still in preparation and more reserved, plus the shortening of the queen stages in the last couple of years, at the Tour everything is controlled by UAE, Visma and the sprinter team, almost hardly any action as far as breakaway groups are concerned... except for the first stage this tour. The Vuelta, on the other hand, is kind of pure chaos and I love it. The GC favorites let groups go and more or less only worry about themselves and do their own thing, regardless of whether they absolutely have to win stages or not. So at the Vuelta, break groups always have a chance, there is action from start to finish. Bravo.

In Valverde's time, Movistar was able to shine, but that was just because of him and not the team - he more or less made the decisions.
