I remember going to this show on shrooms. Les walks out on stage in pajamas and a monkey mask. I don't think anything has ever startled me more in my life.

You should’ve worn your Pajamas to the show EW.

ME TOO!!!! Although my shrooms experience was at Bonnaroo 04 in the mud for Primus!!!! I think I learned how to fly during that performance.

what primus gives you on an album is just a taste of what they can give you live

I don't care how many times I see Les play, I still don't understand how it's humanly possible to do what he does

Berealzalot Dosays It seems to be a Claypool thing. I have seen PRIMUS 3 times, Claypool’s Frog Brigade 3 times, Bucket of a Bernie Brains once, Oysterhead once and The Famcy Band once and each time the live versions are works of art versus the albums. The Frog Brigade live was a true musical orgasm amazing shows every time. Claypool plays in the deepest part of the pool where few dare to go!

Tim Alexander is my favorite drummer that has been in the lineup. He's an absolute beast, but there's such a chilled atmosphere about his playing that is almost scary.

Now and Because I can't think of band that I would rather hear live then these guys. primus is the only band that I consistently will pick to hear their music live or live recordings then the studio versions. every chance, every song and everyday.

LaLonde would most likely seen as one of the greats if it weren't for his unconventional sound.

Yup and to think he was an important member of one of the first death metal bands. He played in a band called Possessed, the album was Seven Churches One of the greatest metal albums of all time.

@@metalmacabre9991 That Possessed album is so good. Speaks volumes on his talent being able to do death metal guitar as well as he does weird psych rock stuff. Also, I love that you're responding to my comment from 12 years ago. lololol I posted this original comment when I was a senior in high school. LOL

Go to a Primus show!!! They never play the same set list and they open up every other song into something new and different when they jam! and the jams can be very intense and powerful. Each show is truly unique. They may be a trio but make no mistake they can play their ass's off!
@duncansmoviesandanimation65556 ай бұрын
The way they never have the same setlist is a really cool thing about Primus. I don't hate the bands that choose to just play the same setlist (1, it's their choice, 2, it could be because they are comfortable sticking with a single idea, etc), but having a different setlist each night is really cool.

Nothing more surprising than being out in the wilderness with family, along a killer steelhead fishing river in Oregon and as I’m hunting for a better spot to fish from cross paths with a group of fishermen coming the other way with fish in tow, I make way for them on the path along the river and last in line was Les Claypool, He asked if I’d had any luck, I said not yet but I see you did good, he had two keepers, and that was it, we went on our way.

The first time I heard Primus, my neighbor was playing them. I walked up and said " This band sucks!". He started cracked up. "What's so funny?" I asked. He said,"That's their motto, cuz so many people say that when they first hear 'em!". They are fucking great. The problem is that, like so many great bands, the radio has the top 7 songs and ignores the rest. Canned Heat was far more than Going Up the Country and On the Road Again. Let's hear all good trax and shitcan The Eagles.

@mbcNOOFS Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. I was there that night about 10 people back from Les. I went to the show the previous Fall, about 4 - 6 months before then as well. Same venue. Usually the sound is shit in there, but since the first Primus one, every show I've been to since there was great. Except for Rise Against, they were awful fucking loud...like hard to hear any changes in chords it was so loud. Bad Religion played that night too but didn't sound nearly as loud.
