Time to unite the provinces! Usually in my Karl campaigns I purposely let Wissenlands fealty go low and then I am "forced" to help the local people have rulers who care for them and want them to enjoy their true passion, which is of course giving me a steam tank before turn 30.

you gotta go north to save middenland. attack the beastmen, the orcs and festus. then focus on the vamps. best way to save the empire in my opinion. saving the empire is a great way to keep a buffer from the forces of chaos further north

Warhammer units do have lines based upon what enemy they are fighting. "Die Traitor" is something they say everytime they fight against another Empire faction like Succsessionists

That's pretty much what they are, Cheap, but somewhat useful Missile Units for when you cannot afford Crossbows, Handgunners or Huntsmen

Once small piece of advice: RANGED UNITS ARE STILL THE META. The initial battle, and all the others can be done with 0 casualties if you use Reiksguard to disrupt the enemy crossbows and shooting the hell out of enemy melee infantry while it is crowded around Franz. You can lose half your soldiers in every battle, of course - but this slows your campaign significantly, as you have to recover for longer after every battle. Enjoy what you are doing, great content. Just remember that being efficient = being more engaging

Archers are cheaper, available at Barracks rank 1, so easier to get to - if only barely - and also have a higher model count, meaning more projectiles in an attack, which CAN be useful for considering a cheap as dirt army to fight specifically Skaven, Goblins or crappy Undead armies.

Generally speaking SFO tries to keep away from the immediate upgrade on next tier that vanilla has a tendency to do - i.e. Saurus and Saurus (shielded) are sufficiently different, rather than the shields just being a straight upgrade, same with pikes/spears, etc. This is what confuses me about archers. Crossbows have slightly fewer units but considerably better range, armor, and pierce. They seem superior in every way.

It's a massive overhaul, covering everything from battles, to campaign mechanics. Instead of the more CA way of balancing things, ie nerfing everything in single player because of multiplayer issues, SFO balances everything by buffing everyone up to a far more similar level. It also provides a very necessary service by making the more vanilla factions unique. Gives them the kind of flavor of, at the bare minimum, a free dlc faction. Gives you a reason to play Tyrion over literally any other high elf for example.

archer shoot in "arch" and crossbow shoot in a straight line. Is the crossbow the actual useless because archers can be positioned behind your infantry and gunners have to be positioned in some sort of formation (chebron or checkerboard usually) great videos!!

Thanks man! Crossbows do shoot in an arc as well, a shallower arc than archers, but they can fire on top of walls and over units heads just like archers do. Plus they have better range.
