Prince Charles delivers The Queen’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament after the 96-year-old Monarch was forced to cancel due to ongoing mobility issues.
It is only the third time during her 70-year reign that The Queen has not opened a session of Parliament. The previous two occasions were in 1959 and 1963, when she was pregnant with Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, respectively.

It's sad to witness the end of a long era and the look on his face when he looks at her crown. He is slowly losing his mother and the weight of this burden shows. The Prince of Wales seems to have done a magnificent job in this ceremonial but important role. I am truly sorry the Queen was unable to continue in this role. When we see her in virtual meetings, she seems to be doing quite well, though how it was possible that she was allowed to catch COVID is beyond my comprehension. When she attended the service for Prince Phillip, she seemed quite well also, not having any more mobility issues than one might imagine a 96-year old in the best of shape to have, all of which are manageable with some creative thinking. I felt that, in the immediate aftermath of his passing, she rather amazingly threw herself back into an incredible number of engagements for someone in their 90's. Perhaps that was a primary cause of the deterioration of her condition. We also still do not know what the hospital visit and the tests last year were actually about. That is a matter for concern. As a result, I wonder if, in effect, she is rather than abdicating, pretty much retiring like her husband did. She may want her son to act as if he were the regent, simply to give him the opportunity to fulfill the role for which he has prepared for so long and been so well schooled by his parents. If we do not see her "on the balcony" or on some balcony on that appointed day, I will be truly worried, as I am sure all her countrymen will be.

Charles is acting in the Queen's stead. Camilla is his consort. William is next in line to the throne so it's a good opportunity to learn the ropes. For example, the Monarch's servant, Black Rod, goes to summon the House of Common and the door is ceremonially slammed in his face, showing that the King may not intrude on Parliament. Charles didn't write this. It is produced by the Parliament to set out their program and promises for the coming year. The Queen would have discussed the speech with Boris Johnson. The only part that is personal is the short message from the Quen at the end, which conveys her Blessing. Charles is merely delivering the speech and has added nothing to it, whatsoever. It is not his place to do so.

Hesham Abous, The MONARCH sits at the centre. It is not about male and female. It is about the single individual who is the Head of State Camilla and Charles are not there visiting the Houses of Parliament a a Husband and wife team. HE is representing the Monarch (the monarch of every single citizen of the UK). Camilla is has no role, except a courtesy one, in this instance. If it was a dinner,or a film premiere, or something of that sort, they would be acting as partners. But in an OFFICIAL situation, no-one is equal to the Queen, or in this case, her representative, Charles. Note that the hierarchy i maintained to the extent that Charles is not sitting on the THRONE. Th Queen's official throne has been removed, and he is using the chair that Philip, or he himself would usually use. And the CROWN symbolises the presence of the Queen herself.
