At the beginning, Prince Charles sits in armchair and talks to camera about his forth coming investiture ceremony at Carnarvon Castle, Wales.
Later, the ceremony starts at Carnavron Castle. Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh arrive. In dieser Zeromonie gibt Queen Elizabeth ihrem Sohn die Insignien, durch diesen Schritt wird er zum Prince of Wales.
BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY
Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.
British Pathé also represents the Reuters historical collection, which includes more than 136,000 items from the news agencies Gaumont Graphic (1910-1932), Empire News Bulletin (1926-1930), British Paramount (1931-1957), and Gaumont British (1934-1959), as well as Visnews content from 1957 to the end of 1984. All footage can be viewed on the British Pathé website. www.britishpathe.com/

We kept the TV on high volume, opened the windows so we could hear it, & then we proceeded with our original planned chore of painting the outside of our wooden house a grand color called "Dynasty Green". Wow, over 50 yrs. ago, but so clear a memory!

This is the Prince Charles that I learned of: 20 years old with dark hair, light-colored eyes, rosy complexion, and those jug-handle ears. Very cute to a 15-year-old girl like me back then! And now Charles will have pleasure of investing his son William as the new Prince of Wales.😁

Watching this, I almost feel as though Olivia Coleman might be overperforming in her role as the queen, who rarely frowns and seems less troubled by her thoughts. Coleman's performance, from a glance, seems a tad laboured in comparison to actual footage of the queen...

Im afraid Coleman will show too much emotional angst in the role which the Queen has never displayed apart from the Windsor Castle fire. However as the op says... its just drama.
@ciaolallala96
@ciaolallala96 4 жыл бұрын
@@roryboytube I think it's required of an actor to express a bit more angst and emotion, even when there's none revealed by the actual person recorded in a footage widely shown. For example, the first ever televised Christmas speech of the Queen shows a relaxed woman, merry and jolly as you would expect from someone wishing happy holidays to their people. The smile in Claire Foy's Queen tells a different story because that's what you'd expect after you'd been told what's happening behind the camera. Of course, I'm kinda stating the obvious saying an actor is supposed to show emotion, but a little bit more (mind you, I'm not talking about over acting) is still functional to a good narration of the story. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, though. Olivia Colman is great and I hope she nailed the character.

@@JAPANgangnext yes, we dont know. But neither does dear Olivia. This show is based off historical records and the rest is coloured in with how the writers assume it may have gone down. Royal correspondents have urged viewers not to take the show at face value, and to only view it as entertainment.

My great uncle, who was born in England in 1910 and died in 2020 at the age of 110, was there because he had good contact with the royal family, especially with Prince Philip, from whom he took his middle name. The contact came from the fact that he served in the royal family's bodyguard from the age of 20 to 73. My great uncle William Philip, called Phil by us, received an award from King 👑 George VI in 1947 and in 2017 he received a medal for his services to his home country in Kensington Palace. My family and I were there. I also often took part in Trouping the Colour. In 2019, a year before his death, he was knighted by the current King Charles III and was then allowed to call himself Sir for another year.

Wow. The father thought that Charles and Edward were weak boys. They seemed to fail him, except Andrew, when it came to military duties. Not the Queen. She had faith in Charles, and was guilty as a mom, by not being there for him, having to travel so much around the world. Which when she had him, she didn't know that her father would die and she would become Queen so early in her marriage. They even broke up after having Ann. You have to give Charles some props for enduring all of this. Beautiful ceremony.
