Yeah, this is from the end of Prince's journey, the Piano and A Microphone Tour. As the name suggests, him reworking his material on just the piano, no band. He also spoke way more than normal sharing lots of anecdotes about the songs and his life. I was lucky enough to see 2 of the last 6 shows on this tour. He seemed so relaxed and his voice as great as ever, stunning to think he was only going to be with us a=for a couple more weeks. Shows we never know what someone else is going through. It's also crazy to think you don't know If I Was Ur Girlfriend yet, I've been watching your trip but you are still yet to get to his most exalted era. The songwriting sophistication, the musicianship, the lyricism and the live chops grow exponentially through the next few albums (and side projects).

Beautiful. Magical. Emotional. I love hearing Prince so stripped back and unproduced. Just him & a piano or acoustic guitar. You really get a different perspective and appreciation of his musicality and skill. It does something to me when I listen to him. He’s always had an affect on me that no other artist has ever come close to. Something comes through in the notes and melodies he constructed, the vocals, lyrics…moves me down in my soul. I can hear the Stevie Wonder influence here. I could listen to Prince accompanying himself on piano all day every day. I think he still would have been my favorite artist. Just phenomenal what that man could do. 💜 You have a great set of singing chops yourself! Thank you for such a heartfelt reaction to this hidden gem of a performance. P.S. he has a few reggae-inspired songs in his catalog: “Blue Light,” “Rippopgodazippa,” and another I heard for the first time recently on Prince’s probably the 1999 deluxe album. I really liked it a lot But I’d have to hunt down the title.

Prince dreamed of this tour for years.he wanted to do just him and his piano, no band,je could change things,make up things on the spot. This was his A piano & microphone tour,the tour he was doing when he passed. If i was your girlfriend was a song from his 1987 sign o the times album,people misinterpret the story of that song

Yes. Beyoncé took the lyrics & melody directly from the Prince song. Never heard this Marley medley!!! sounds like it’s from the last tour before he passed
