This song is one of the most creative and inventive songs that I've ever heard. It encompasses all that is Batman and the Gothically dark 1989 film. This should have made it on the album without question. It's so spooky and experimental. Kinda like "Positivity" from 1988's "Lovesexy" which had the "Spooky Electric Sound;" but only much, much, much darker. It's such a fun song, and would have fit like a glove as the conclusion of the album. Prince really delivers on this one. People always think of "Purple Rain" when they think of Prince, but any true Prince friend (fan) knows that he was SOOOO much deeper than "Purple Rain." It's a superb album, but not even close to his best material. How many artists can say that some of their best material were things that never saw the light of day? None but Prince! But I guess this track may have been a little too dark for his taste coming off of the spiritually upbeat "Lovesexy" and the dark "Black Album" that he recalled for being "evil."

PurpleRain500 the black album isn't available anymore?
@PurpleRain5007 жыл бұрын
You can buy the CD on eBay. "The Black Album" was initially pulled before it was released in 1987 because Prince felt that it was "evil" and he replaced it with "Lovesexy." But right after the recall, whole sellers sold some copies on the black market before sending them back to be destroyed and those original copies were copied over and over again for the next seven years before Warner Bros. officially re-released the album in 1994 as a limited edition CD which is still available on eBay. The album became the most bootlegged/sought after album of all time. The original 1987 vinyl copies are the rarest of Prince collectors items and nearly impossible to find. Beware of many counterfeit ones. If you would like to learn more about "The Black Album" you can visit the-black-album.info/index.html .

There's always a message from Prince. Even though it is for the soundtrack it has his signature. This man was a musical gift that will contine giving. Bet there are classes studying his movies and musical compositions.writing lyrics.philanthropy.design.videos. buisness acumen. developement. Even his immense collections of awards.Art. I'd take it. Prince is a fascinating enigma from birth to death. Too bad he didn't complete his autobiography. I was hoping he had taped his amazing career experiences. Too sad no first person account of his own. It will always be second person cluttered with opinion and supposition. What an interesting person for our American history. We lucked up. Many grew up with him. His music helping to catalog our lives. Prince Rodgers Nelson. Thank you.

I can imagine Prince up in the studio, late at night, alone mixing and producing this song. Working on it obsessively to his perfectionist nature, creating a masterpiece only to not have released or even to bless to our ears until his tragic death decades later I have only listened to this once when he passed and I luckily found it uploaded on here and hadn't came back to it until tonight, so happy it's still here. I didn't know what it was but it was love at first listen. My heart can't take too many listens to this song though. Almost makes me sick to my stomach. The part 2:32 to 3:20 very haunting but beautiful, kind of like a heartache set to music. It just puts me in my feelings. I would have loved to been a fly on the wall at this recording session. I prefer this over Purple Rain anyday. Truly one of my favorites. I miss Prince so much and it hurts the heart when I listen to this song especially. Sounds so lonely :(

Such an ominous track, with the buildup and climax intertwining so well. It's like wandering a dark alleyway during a riot and all the trashcans are burning. No hideouts, no running away, just slow, all consuming darkness. I wonder if he did tracks similar to this. It feels one of a kind and that's sad.

That is an amazing song; not what I was expecting at all. The whole album to me really stands out from the rest of his catalog. As unique as Prince is, some of those songs are extra in their uniqueness. Lemon Crush comes to mind. Gone not forgotten... God Bless him.
@steveknick19785 жыл бұрын
Lemon Crush, Vicki Waiting (aka Anna Waiting) & Pink Cashmere were all written for an 18 year old girlfriend he had at the time named Anna Garcia / Anna Fantastic. He grabbed a lot of stuff out of the vault & reworked it for this soundtrack. Not sure how many tracks were recorded brand new & exclusively just for this. It was great though, his last #1 album.

I did find it interesting to hear all the samples that never made it to the final cut, or were lines that were before the post sync-dubs. @@harveydent302 gee whiz I haven’t seen you since Batman I’ve read up so much about your history and how you came to be you’re like the well known character that I’ve known from the comics tv shows and films and video games ever since

If they make a Batman super deluxe cd set they would make it a 10cd set and sell for like $200 and 6-12 months later it's not available and only re-sellers sell it on amazon or ebay for like $400-$1000... it's happening right now with the 1999 super deluxe 5cd+1dvd.

I am a huge Prince fan, to me he is a true genius, and to me the Batman album isn´t one of his great works. But again - this song....what a gem, amazing artistry.

There's some good stuff on there, but there's also some cheesy stuff on there. Also, that album hasn't aged as well as a lot of his other albums for sure.

Electric Chair, Vicky Waiting, The Future, Scandalous....?No friend...this is a great album.

***** mmm, we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think any of them have aged particularly well. Hits and misses on all three.

The Batman album isn't one of my favorites, either. But I love Electric Chair.

Batman soundtrack got me into Prince, and I still love it today. Even without his falsette voice, the sound is very unique. Partyman is great, but i never liked the live performance of it.
This song would have fit perfectly in the latest Joker movie!

By removing this song, he compromised the artistic integrity of the album. But, commercially, the album did need a Batdance, so I get. But, still, what could have been…
@retrobrahhh7 ай бұрын
could have put both on the album, dance with the devil followed by batdance. if there wasn't room, just take off lemon crush or arms of orion.
@nucavenged7 ай бұрын
I completely agree. I get the feeling that maybe Prince didn’t want the film and album to end with kids singing “dance with the devil” over and over. That’s my opinion, though
