Liz Truss was only in office six plus weeks as prime minister but has a prime ministers pension for life. At least we only have one head of state at a time who is a Monarch who ceased to be head of state at death. The royals do attract a lot of tourism, as they are a living history etc. A continuation from King Henry 8th and monarchs before him, Queen Elizabeth l and Elizabeth ll. 🙂

In London, hotel occupancy over the coronation weekend stood at 96%. The Centre for Economics and Business Research estimated a £337 million boost from extra tourism and spending in pubs over the three-day weekend. Then add in TV rights and extra jobs etc. I think the cost were well and truly covered. And at £78m, that works out to about £1 per head, per person in the UK. A brilliant investment.

Arthur is a true gentleman and loyal to the Monarchy. His gentle nature is in such contrast to the lady that talked over him. I was disappointed that she kept referring to the Princess os Wales as Kate when she knows that the respectful reference is to call her Catherine. She is deliberately rude, talking over people and referring to the Princess of Wales as Kate is quite deliberate (Harry and his narcissistic wife does the same, yet she demands to be addressed as 'Duchess' in America, where there are no titles). Go to windsor outside central London. Windsor is such a lovely town. I took my kids to lego land when they were little and we stayed in Windsor, and by chance we saw the changing of the guards on Windsor High street! My kids loved it. I once saw Lady Sarah Chatto in Windsor! so you never know who you'll see. You can get a boat down the thames from windsor to hampton court where king henry viii lived. I used to live near there and walked along the river a lot. I'm Irish not British, but love the UK. It's not far. Never stay away too long.

I'm an American and I've been to London three times. Go! You won't regret it. I love it over there; it's so different. One thing happened that is so sweet: My husband and I were at a museum and apparently these young students, around 7 years of age, were on some type of field trip there. One little girl raised her hand trying to get her teacher's attention, and said, in her perfect British accent, "Oh sir...!" I thought, wow, would you ever see an American child say this?

I think the Coronation was just as it should be. It is a lot of money but when people talk about how much was spent they tend not to then mention how much was brought back into the economy. There was a lot of money spent in London but it was so much more than this. Even at home many of us splashed out on posh nibbles whist watching, I was one of them. I bought newspapers, when I normally just read online. I did not buy mugs or anything like that but I regret that now.

So what changed? If Harry felt a duty to support the late Queen, he certainly changed his tune once he met Meghan and they didn't listen to a word his grandmother said. So yes, I do blame Markle, because if Harry had married anybody else, they would've curbed his bad behaviour instead of encouraging it and whispering in his ear he was mistreated and deserved better. He was always jealous of William, but she weaponized that jealousy so it became a hate campaign against William and Catherine whom Harry previously got along with. As someone from the US, I think it's a privilege to still live in an era where we still have royalty. All little girls still want to be princesses. I don't know how the massive changes over just the past century will affect their future. As far as financing the royals' lifestys, I'm split. Just a small portion of the millions of dollars could benefit so many people and organizations. Yet, it's a symbol & statement to the rest of the world how the country is fairing. The importance of how it lifts up the common people's spirits goes unrecognized.
