To be fair to Harry, his mother was about fairness. Diana treated him and William equally, regardless if they were airs and spares, so I can see how he would think the palace would treat him fairly.

I think Meghan and Harry are two incredibly basic self-aggrandizing people, who have bought into their own myth. They make me cringe, but are still people, so I appreciate that you snarked with decency. You're right-- the snark is ruined by the crazies, who wish violence on them. That phrase from Meghan on her first date was so stupid and corny--if you said that in Europe most people would give you a side eye. In October 2016, 3.5 months after her first date with Harry she published the article "How to be Both" on her blog --which is that phrase in article form. Tell me she wasn't positioning herself to marry a prince from very early on in the relationship. That is a woman prioritizing marriage. This book shows him as the ultimate himbo frat-boy bro and Meghan is a basic California girl. Ultimately, I draw the same conclusion as you: Harry is not capable right now (or maybe ever) of understanding the system in which he was raised. How could he possibly have helped Meghan navigate it? I also completely agree that his failure to prioritize his battles with the press diminishes the gravity of their heavier struggles. But that's to be expected from the guy was intimidated by Meghan reading "Eat, Pray, Love".

Love that I have so many episodes to catch up on now that I've discovered this podcast! Regarding the military service part: There are plenty of military jobs that don't involve direct combat. Not sure why he's complaining about "special treatment". People do those jobs every day because that's what they're assigned, not because they're "special" in any way and framing it that way is sort of dismissive of their important contributions if you're as gung ho about the "cause" or "mission" as he claims to be.
@OMGitsShrimp

I don’t he’s complaining. He’s just pointing out that there is a motivation and a vested interest, to keep royals in the military safe from danger, while for other members of the military it’s not really like that.

My hubs and I watched the news break in 1997. I said to my husband, "I bet she pays the medical staff handsomely to claim she died so she can disappear and escape the toxic family and media. Since they all constantly gaslight her." I was stunned to read that H felt the same. Grief is so tricky. Our minds take odd turns to help us go on and handle the grief. I believe Hs view of his Mother's death as disappearance was a 12 yo boys process to understand her absence. As an adult, he reads the police report. i can't remember if it was before or after he started therapy. Probably after. It was through reviewing the police report he finally comes to terms with her death. The initial belief she disappeared and would return was honestly a 12 yo you boys attempt to handle his beloved mothers death.

Ican only imagine! I was date raped, he recorded it. Handed it out at school and said it was consensual..😢 It would be like how Justin Timberlake did Britney spears, and I would have been the terrible person to the whole world. I felt sluicidal then, I quit public school and then I just couldn't deal and ran away at 15. Lived in an apartment that had no power or water, my friends uncle owned it. His grandma lived next door. Anyway. If that was on full blast all over the world, I would have definitely made sure I was dead and gone. I'm so thankful too I was not on that level of fame and known in every corner of the world. And I only after 21 years, finally figured out what drug he used, after reading ozzy osbourne book. I think it was called rsv? Something like that. It paralyzes you, your vocal chords, your whole body. You're out cold then you wake up can't open your eyes, can't move. Feels like you're dead. And then you go back out. I couldn't scream, I couldn't talk, I tried to bite him or kick him but it wasn't happening.

Keep in mind, he had a ghost writer. What is a ghost writer? Someone that writes for you. Hence the writing style depicted to "prove" H was "thick" is questionable. Additionally, his inability to manage public scrutiny was another reason why he needed to step out of the limelight. Tabloids like to blame Meghan. He wrote the book to say this was a longtime coming.

He wanted to be on the front line because the paps weren't there. He could escape them on the front. He wanted to return to war because he could be "normal" and hide from the paps. Remember the theme of the book is why he bailed on the royal family in the end.

He says repeatedly how afraid he is for Meghan. She was suicidal when pregnant with Archie. She couldn't get help for that. H repeatedly discusses his fear history will repeat itself with Meghan. He's afraid she may hurt herself, as is she. His fear and angst isn't about himself. It's about Meghan amd that the paps are doing to her what was done to his mother.
@sunnyadams5842
@sunnyadams5842 3 ай бұрын
But they WERE NOT doing the same to Meghan.😅...the 'same' being buying into the myth that Dianna died because she was being chased by paparazzi. Well, none of that is true- Diana died because she was not wearing a seat belt. And her driver that night was, ALLEGEDLY, intoxicated. But if she had been wearing her seatbelt she would have survived. It wasn't a high speed reckless chase!! AND - further more, Meggsie has spent the last 8 years trying to create the IMPRESSION that she is being hounded by the media. She's not and never was - maybe for a day or 2 in Toronto, right after she announced her successful entrapment of a Prince- being CHASED BY PAPARAZZI. First off, there are totally different laws and practices, nowadays, to how the paps functioned back in the day. They do not hang around on street corners anymore, hoping for a photo op. Today stars need to call the paps- which Meggsie, obvi does all the time!! Those car park pap walks sure are classy. Not sure what secondly was...i'm falling asleep.

I understand your angst with his view if his "job" at war with "chess pieces". I agree that view is harsh. However, he states that is how he was trained. It is very true military of all countries are trained as such. That is actually where we get the racist "names" for people. It is a method military uses to otherize people. Make them none human so we are traumatized when we kill them. My father and brother were both in the military. Father 1950s and brother 1980s. They both shared the "names" they were given for respective "enemies". Is it harsh? Yes. Is it terrible? Yes. Do I agree with it? No. Is it a thing? Absolutely. H didn't invent the process. He was trained to otherwise the enemy. He said that in the book. I wasn't angry with H for his thinking as they trained him that way. I am unhappy with the system that propagates the process. They are also trained to dig deep and find the thing that angers them. Go for the hurt and angst. Why? Makes it easier for the soldier to make the kill. This is also why he stated in the initial bit on military that they were looking for the broken and wounded. Upper echelon knows its easier to convince the solders to take their angst out on the enemies. Is any of this right? No. Should we do a better job of finding diplomatic answers? For sure. For many years, I've stated if women ran things we would have far fewer wars. Women are more nurturing and do a better job with diplomacy. It's opinion that men tend to go to the fisticuffs faster than women.

I can tell that you guys are anti monarch.. Clearly you don’t do any research. I’d like to offer some advice. It’s ok to give a book review but you should try educating yourself on the people and topic so that you are able to give an unbiased review. To take everything that was written in that book as face value and run with it even though a lot of it has been proven to be false. Harry himself claims that a lot of things he couldn’t remember so his ghost writer filled in things. Maybe as you get older you’ll realize the importance of research. Praising someone that doesn’t take any accountability of their actions is just wrong. Right now, you are contributing to disinformation.

It just what was expected and the only place to be is the front line especially within the military culture. Also the royals aren't allowed to speak about politics or personal opinion that is why Diana was hated by the royals.
