The mother of former NFL safety and veteran Pat Tillman is outraged that Prince Harry will receive an award named after her deceased son at the ESPYs. Mary Tillman told the Daily Mail that ESPN didn't consult with her on this year's award recipient and that there are people more worthy than the Duke of Sussex. James "Bo Snerdley" Golden, WABC radio host and author, said he doesn't want to minimize Prince Harry's military service, but awarding it to him almost diminishes the meaning behind the award and Pat Tillman.

Pat Tillman wasn't surrounded by a dozen special forces troops in Afghanistan as Harry was when he was overseas. Pat Tillman didn't hole up in a bunker playing video games as Harry did. Pat Tillman lost his life serving his country; Harry just occupies air and space wherever he goes and gets these totally undeserving awards. Invictus Games? Modeled after the US Patriot Games----a make-do project the palace came up for the Army dropout (because he couldn't pass the promotion tests). Harry served six weeks in Afghanistan for his first 'tour' and twenty weeks for his second. Given that other, less privileged, armed personnel spent at least eighteen months there it was just a nod by The Queen to allowhimto sayhe had served. He was also guarded by Gurkas, and two Americans lost their lives protecting him. He certainly don't serve with pride, and other military called him 'bunker Harry' as he was so cossetted. As a Brit I remember how it all played out. Please don't let certain sectors rewrite history.

The family gave him Invictus just so he had something to do and manage. His problematic behavior, including drug use as a teen, has always been something the firm has handled. And as far as him being a soldier is concerned, it is a well-known fact that he was heavily protected, and he did not function as a soldier in the same capacity.
