‘Cynical’: Douglas Murray hits out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Author Douglas Murray has slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after it was announced the Duke of Sussex would receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service at this year's upcoming ESPY award ceremony in Los Angeles.
The award is given to a person with a “strong connection to sports” who has served others in a way that echoes the legacy of the former NFL player and US Army Ranger Pat Tillman, according to ESPN.
“What happens with a lot of this is Meghan or Harry's PR people put in calls to ask about various awards they can be given and then they bring their celebrity to the awards process and everyone benefits. I mean, it's so cynical,” Mr Murray told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi.

We are a military family and are upset. I feel a real hero does not disrespect a Gold Star Mother (Mary Tillman, who does not want Harry to receive the award in honor of her son). And a real hero (imo) does not try to call attention to himself or acquire praise for what he’s done. It’s the total opposite of Pat Tillman. It is well known the Invictus Games were modeled on the American Warrior Games. Why is not someone from them being honored? (We also know Harry didn’t develop Invictus by himself, that it was a joint effort among the Royals). Now, if Harry tries to accept on behalf of the disabled Veterans, I won’t believe him. All, he did while serving was stay in the bunker playing video games. He put the soldiers lives in danger being there pretending to be a soldier.They had to babysit him the entire time. It is so very true that Harry could have done so much good in this world.
