@@ewamenamiesz true there is nothing special about having some songs in your head. But having some good songs in your head is fairly special. Having multiple great songs at one session is very rare. I once knew a professional sound guy that toured the world with the biggest acts. He told me he had never witnessed a more accomplished musician. I just watched one of his sound engineers talk about working with him and evidently he was difficult and mean too while actually working. Sinead O'Connor tells people that Prince physically beat her. Legends and geniuses are so infinite. The sides to them never end. Because just as I was getting irritated with him I find this and remember his virtuosity and star power. He and Michael Jackson were simply the Mozarts of our era and with that comes infinite sides to them.

People talk about musicians being geniuses all the time, but Prince literally was a genius. He could play multiple musical instruments at an ELITE level, was a fantastic singer, had incredible and mesmeric stage presence, and could SINGLE-HANDEDLY compose and produce incredible songs that constantly straddled the fence between pop and prog, entertainment and art, and mass-appeal and envelope-pushing. I remember buying Purple Rain new, and on the record cover it basically indicates Prince made the whole album - wrote the songs, multiple instruments played, choreography and the costumes. I knew the first time I heard the record the guy was a formidable talent, destined for greatness, I guess history proved me right, the man was a bona fide genius. RIP

I was a working musician from 1995 until 2014, when I finally hung up my Fender basses and sold off my guitars and amps. There were a few times over that span of 19 years, where someone would ask me something like, "If you could hang out with any musician - living or dead - who would you hang out with?" My answer was always, "Prince."

Prince used to be overrated in the 80s. He dominated the 80s so to speak. And he deserves the title. Both him and Michael Jackson. The only difference is Michael Jackson name has been on the top for 3 decades (80s, 90s, 00s). But if you talk about the 80s, everyone will remember either Prince or Michael Jackson as the top stars. You can add Freddie Mercury, Madonna on the list too.

Prince is a genious. He was way more talented than anyone gave him credit for. He played guitar better than 98% of all guitarists, plus he had a style and sound that wa unmistakenly his.
