there are many styles of rappin', just like many styles of music. his rap may not be on the same as a pop rapper who only talks about killin & selling dope, but at least he was tryin to get the ears of those who needed a different sound. Prince 4EVER

amazing song, for those that hate the rapping ... go listen to the older shit. Artists change and time periods move on. Just like his music did after this as well. Plus how are you going to complain about songs that didnt make the cut anyway lol

For the most part, fPrince jumped the shark when, because rap had gotten very popular at this time, he started rapping in certain songs. It's cringey, it's not "him", and he did not do it well.

Tony M's raps were even worse. I'm not a big fan of Prince's rap music.

Dead on it and superfunkycalifragisexy, both from the black album, are great. Silicon too. Sexy mf is ok. Agreed on Tony M, he was not ok at all😂

You see, the problem here is this…you trying to directly compare Prince to N.S.E. and West coast rappers. Prince’s pitch style was never like theirs. He never considered it to be “rap” in what he was doing. It was more of just a “talking and flowing in rhythm” to him. Straight up rapping just for the hell of it was always below and beneath him as a music artist.

I think the lack of energy in his rapping made the track worse. The Chorus is hypnotic though

Absolute crap. There was a time when new computer hardware and software came out, and he went right downhill. I thought that the technology got in his way. He still went on to make great music afterwards, but this period in time was wack

Hahahahaaa, you people in this commenting section don’t know jack about Prince now and probably knew even less about him years ago when he was alive. Prince joked about and made fun of some rappers(not all) in his song “Dead On It” from the legendary black album back in 1987. So why would he even try to do that same thing they were doing if he talked so badly about it? Furthermore, Prince never needed to hop on a genres bandwagon just because of it’s popularity(at the time). Everybody knew that he was always ahead of the entire music industry year after year with his music period.
