I was there too. . I remember that he came up to the mic and he didn't say "Hello, Birmingham!" or "Hello England!" or "Hello Britain!". He said, "Hello, Europe!". We all looked at each other and thought, "Well, OK. He's not wrong."

This was on tv in the UK late one night in 1988. I loved Prince so much but my parents wouldn’t let me stay up or record it. We went to my Aunt’s house and I saw that my cousin had recorded it. There was a VHS tape with “Lovesexy 88” written on it in tippex. I asked my cousin if I could borrow it and he let me. I took it home and over the years I must have watched it a thousand times. Thirty years later I had the tape transferred to DVD. I got myself a copy and one for my cousin. I sent it to him and wrote him a letter saying thank you for lending it to me and I’m so sorry I never gave it back! He didn’t remember at all. I bought him dinner as this concert always made me happy when I watched it and as a teenager I needed all the help I could get! My cousin sadly passed away a couple of months ago. I’ll always think of him when I watch this now and I’ll be grateful to him forever. Thank you for posting this 💜

This was 1988, and Prince already had enough great songs that he could have easily done a 5-hour show. The entertainment level is through the roof. The musicality is unmatched. No lipsyncing either, which everyone else was regularly doing. There never was, nor will there be anything like him.

I saw this tour Denver when I was only 19! My mom made me and a friend custom polka dot neckties to go with our black shirts. We were in the 8th row and I screamed loud enough for Sheila to hear and look right at me (that's my story and I'm sticking with it). Wow I can't believe I found this! I saw this show in Marlborough, Mass in 88 live with my best friend from HS when we were 17. We skipped school and borrowed her Moms credit card so we could go. We broke down on the way back to Maine and had to hitchhike! But it was worth every second....best concert of my lifetime and I've been to many many concerts. The way he included the audience and the energy was like one huge party. I'll never forget the car onstage, Sheila E. on drums and he had the Women sing Meow and the Men sing Woof! Outside I saw a stretch purple corvette limo and there were religious people picketing and saying he was the devil, scary for me a girl who grew up a JW kid. Weird he ended up being one later. We were lucky to grow up with this kind of real music. He was a genius. 0)+> 💜🎶🎵☔️

It’s great that so many felt the way I felt at the time. My Princess era is LOVESEXY. I discovered his music personally after Sign O The Times, & did the whole working back thing, learning his music and just basically obsessing over his music for a solid year. Then this appears & I was blown away. Every hit, every performance & he promoting LOVESEXY which I’ve listened to 1000 x in a few months. Suddenly it’s all there. The costumes, the Car, Cat Sheila E, everything… and I can’t even express how jealous I was of ANY person who got to go these concerts. Always and 4eva!
