I grabbed this last week and the other 4 carpenter 4ks in hmv 2 for 24 sale and watched it for the first time really liked it its amazing how you see so much from his other movie in his films from music to the way it looks etc

I think the ambiguity of the origin of the essence of evil itself allows for your own interpretations, making it more disturbing - that creates the fear.

❤ this film is such a massive original religion x science a perfect mix of everything you need the scene with wyndon that series "hello?" Scene and the "you will not be saved by the god plutonium " the apocalypse trilogy is apex the soundtrack is in a league of its own

Having watched this again I can give my honest opinion: Due to the fact that John Carpenter does the score, story and directs you are experiencing a coordination of media that you will never see anywhere else, the result is quite hypnotic, you get pulled in in a way that's really eerie. Now whether this is better than The Thing depends on how you describe better, does it have main stream appeal - No, whereas The Thing definitely does. Is it genuinely creepy and absorbing? Yes, very but maybe I prefer a kick in the face, which is what The Thing is...anyway nice review.

I can't remember the context in which I said Prince of Darkness was "better" than The Thing, this video was filmed years ago. At a guess, I'd imagine I probably said something like "it's a better horror film" and if I didn't, I think I'd still make that claim now. It contains more unnerving dread and creeping doom than The Thing does, which is more of a suspense film to me, despite its horror elements. The Thing is undeniably a better film overall, but I think Prince of Darkness, for me, is one of Carpenter's best horror efforts. Thanks for the follow up comment, I loved reading these!

@OzzyMandias it's apart of Carpenter's disconnected Apocalypse Trilogy The Thing Prince Of Darkness In The Mouth Of Madness The Thing is a better movie, however Prince Of Darkness has moments that get under my skin more and haunt my dreams, the message dream from the future.
