SerpentofLore I feel it's just Matt Smith, him and his co-stars general referring to each other (as friends), their foreign accents, the way they speak, I think it sometimes distances people. It makes them tense. I can't imagine how it is for Stephen, to see these posh-talking royal family-like Brits, to talk with them casually. They're almost exotic, in the way they talk, but this is literally how they normally talk, which makes people think that they're trying to be superior to you. I could absolutely be wrong, but this is what I've observed over my life, since I started talking all British and posh in my childhood. So it's a theory.

I think it is because of something that happened when Claire Foy and Stephen were greeting each other. But you can't really tell exactly what it is because Matt Smith was in the view of the camera ( maybe there is another angle). Anyways, after we could see them again you can notice Claire ease away from him, say something (as if correcting him), while Stephen goes to his chair and mumbles something with a scolding look on his face. Claire throughout the interview has a nervousness about her and it seems as Stephen intentionally is an arse.

Stephen Colbert is satirical. He's being satirical; his humour is built on satire. It's more notable back in his time on the Colbert Report of course. Most of the time the guests who are brought to his show get that kind of humour, and they either roll with it, roast him back, or just die laughing -- or a combination of all three. There is a fine line between satirical humour and just being downright offensive, obviously, and a lot of American media tend not to get that (verging on offensive majority of the time), but Stephen Colbert nails it really well. And this is coming from a non-American viewer.

***** For individual tea drinkage, it is acceptable to put the tea bag in the cup first. However, when a tea pouring device is implemented, one may place the milk in the cup first and then pour the tea mixture. I personally like to add milk after the tea, but I do not feel there is an issue there. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the milk be added to a dry tea bag. That is treachery and punishable by a strongly worded letter followed by 1 week of drinking nothing but tepid, weak tea.

it is not how you drink tea, its not very English at all
@ScouserGirl898 жыл бұрын
it depends on the tea, I use both bagged and loose tea like I say depending on the brand plus bagged tea is generally cheaper

Why would you introduce him first though? Like I know he's super famous but she's the star of the show. It just seemed odd to me.

One of the worst interviews he's ever done. And then when they came back later and he'd seen the show he was so different, you can tell he knew he was a jerk here.

As Americans, we admire the British Royal Family and its drama--from a distance. "The Crown" is far better than what one might have expected or anticipated. As always, film/movie plays to the strength of the Royals portraying their drama. Colbert is playing for laughs which Claire Foy & Matt Smith readily supply.

Claire could easily play the princess Diana. Her mimicry, way how she talk by tilting her head, how she look under her forehead ...

Susan Chang Matt and Claire seem to be friends, so this doesn't seem to matter. But then, I'm not in on this gentlemen courtesy thing, so I don't know.

I was scrolling down the comments to see if I was the only one who spotted that. It was a bit odd, as if he wanted attention. I just feel bad for her because she seemed a bit embarrased or maybe she was just shyt. I would imagine him helping her with the steps

War: “Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?” Eleven: “Yes... No.”
Most brief interview I've ever seen on Colbert. They have 45 minutes for Biden, who forgets who he is, and 6 minutes for The Crown, an international sensation.
