I had a fun time chair dancing with you on this one 😂 I love that you mentioned him holding his arms out in the beginning as if to say, “guitar please.” It is one of the many things I love about this performance. He practically starts playing it before it’s even over his shoulder. I’m a stay to the very end of a show or sporting event kind of gal, too. I’d be wondering what I missed if I left early, and, of course, there’s no way I’m missing one second of a Prince performance 💜💜💜

@@JJlovesPrince Perhaps I shouldn't reveal how many times I saw him then! But, it was between 1986 and 2013, so a long time! Glad you got to see him though - he was the very best, so even once is a privelege

Great choice 💜 I find this performance absolutely joyful! Great guitar solo, great bass battle with Ida. If this doesn’t make you smile then you have no soul. One of my favourites. Plus he looks fabulous too 💜

I’m definitely the same about not leaving until you’re kicked out. 😂 I ended up vacuuming the soundstage at Paisley Park one night for staying too long after the party was over. 🫠🫠 With Prince riding his bicycle around the parking lot when we finally left. Lol. He definitely made sure people got their money’s worth at every show. The majority of tickets for this particular show were only $25. The free shows and $10 shows I went to were always the best ones too. It’s intoxicating in a sense to be around someone like Prince who got so much joy just from existing and getting to play music. You’re on point about his guitar playing getting better over the years too. He said that he really focused on playing guitar and getting better at it in 2006. And he was wanting to do the same thing with the piano in 2016. Although, I think some of his best piano playing was during the Nude tour. 💜

@smh93 I would have happily stayed to vacuum anything at Paisley Park to get to see all of those performances you did 😂😂😂 I love when you share these stories 💜💜💜

Prince was somebody that sort of channeled music, like he just let it flow through him; it played him. He was pure talent. I am a Tool sort person, but also spent a lot of years in music. Genius comes in all genres.

I seen him at Wembley once where he came back out with the band and there were only a few hundred of us left in a huge arena, done an extra hours set just for us! 💜

That’s how much of a musician Prince was after the show he would do an after party at a club and play a couple more hours.

Dude, you keep saying he didn't play guitar as well back in the day, yet you never watch his stuff from back then. Purple Rain live 1985 Syracuse New York. This is the one thing that bothered him back then is all those guitar magz never gave him the credit he so well deserved. Check out his live stuff back then and the dude was already a virtuoso on guitar. Bambi is another song that he shreds back in 79.

I have seen his guitar playing from the 80's and 90's and I am just being honest. I have been playing guitar since I was a teen at the highest level. I went to music school and I have a music degree and a guitar degree. I don't need to mention it in every title like some teachers do. I have given lessons for decades so please accept a little bit of criticism. I know the man is a genius. Cut me some slack here and better check before attacking me in the comments. I have seen his technique get better over the years. I am not just talking out of my ass.

Any beginner can play fast or "shred" you could grab a guitar right now and play fast without any knowledge of music. I am talking about precision, tone, technique, control, phrasing, theory, choices of notes etc. Trust me the flashiest stuff is the easiest to play. Every guitar player goes through it and yes even when they are already selling millions of albums.

It's not a popular take, but late 90's through 2010 are PRIME Prince guitar playing years. Other musicians like Henry Rollins and others have commented on how he got better over time.

In the more recent years Prince did not move and dance much because of hip pain. He also stopped weakening high heals. He woeful wear platform flats.

Love this, 3rd encore of the night I think. Yes mate, just effortless but, I'll correct you in my humble opinion haha, he was always this proficient on the instrument in the 80s. Just watch 'take me with you' live in houston in 85, kills it. I saw him in 88 and his guitar work was exemplary. Anyway I love Rush too, La villa strangiato would be a great reaction. May u live 2 c the dawn.
