This was my very first Prince album 💜💜💜 on vinyl. It has very special place in my heart. 1999 converted me instantly to a fan of his music. I had no choice in the matter, and I didn't care LOL. I have loved the journey all these years.

that one line in Let's Pretend We're Married is nuts but the "can you relate" right after is really the icing on the cake

1999 was the first tour I saw him on. I went to every one after that. He was a brilliant song writer, musician and performer. He is so missed. Great reaction.

I was in 10th grade when this album came out. This was before most people 'got' Prince. I didn't care who liked him. I ADORED him then and now at 57. There is no way you can listen to this album and be in a bad mood. With a partner or not I'd dance to album until I hurt all over and my feet hated me🎉💜👑

In DMSR: Jaime Starr is a queen (Prince's alter ego), it's time to fix your clock (reference to The Time), Vanity 6 is so sweet (reference to his gf Vanity's band), now we can all take a bite of my purple rock til we stop (they were all performing and recording together with Prince in control of it all). Thought that might help make sense of that line. Love watching you experience 1999 and all the Prince magic.

I told you so! I'm the one who told you to start with 1999 and Little Red Corvette because those were his first two "crossover" hits in the MTV era. And I loved seeing you listen to D.M.S.R. I dare anybody with a pulse to sit still listening to that one lol. (Let's Pretend We're Married is one of my all time faves too because the lyrics were so naughty and I loved knowing that I was too young to sing them at the time 😆). I can't wait to see your reactions to Lady Cab Driver and International Lover 😁. EDIT: Now that you're going down the Prince rabbit hole (and loving it), you might want to go back a bit further (even if you only do it on your own time). 1999 was his 5th album and there are some classics on the earlier ones too. "For You" (1978) has "Soft and Wet," his first single, "Prince" (1979) has "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "Dirty Mind" (1980) has "Head," which is referencing exactly what you're thinking and it couldn't be played on the radio lol, and "Controversy" (1981) has the title track, "Do Me, Baby" and "Let's Work." Since you love a good chair dance, I'd start with "Let's Work" 😁.

LOVE this - thank you for that bit of guidance and for enjoying with me! It's so funny you mention his earlier works as I'm just in talks with my Patrons about what my next route will be! So yes, definitely stay posted on that one! Thanks for watching! 😉💖

@@Room2703Reacts I think we have the same taste ("Delirious" isn't my favorite either), so I think you'll like the older ones I picked out too 😊. EDIT: I told you two months ago that you'd love DMSR 😁.

LOVING your reaction to this ASTONISHING album, young man!!! I wish you could've been part of my crew 40 years ago....you've got the right spirit & energy & heart and would've fit right in. 😄 I became a Prince fan in 1981 upon hearing the "Controversy" album. "1999" came along and blew me out of the water. This album still gets regular play around my house and will continue to get regular play for the rest of my life. If someone asked me to turn them on to Prince, the first track I'd play for them would be "DMSR". PRINCE FOREVER 😃❤

Now that you have the album versions down, you can explore the wild changes in the live arrangements of the songs over the years: DMSR (live in Detroit 2004), Little Red Corvette (live in Montreux 2009), Something in the Water (Manchester UK 2014), and All the Critics... (live in Montreux 2009)...enjoy 🎶

I know. The album is so strangely catchy. The mastering and production is first rate as well. I admit. I bought that 5 CD boxset of 1999. I don’t regret it. Anyhow. Love your reaction to the album. I’m really the same way. 😊
