I like that you picked up on that, perfectionism in music or sports is a psychosis, but healthy, when I sang in a band I would sing one single song in practice by myself at least 100 times, to deliver "perfect" vocals.

A friend of mine used to provide security for stage areas/performers on behalf of a concert promoter in the UK in the 90s. Prince was touring and was hit by a sudden strike by roadies and crew not specific to Prince but affecting his final set up of instruments and monitors on stage. My friend was a tall bald intimidating looking Scotsman who was on security on stage and he saw Prince personally tune and set up each instrument and monitor personally, and expertly linked up with the mixing desk so he could perform that night. Prince asked him to help move/ set up the heavier items and he was so full of admiration and respect for Princes attitude and competence and work ethic that he helped him as he was not a member of the union on strike. He said Prince was quite strong for a "little guy in heels" and enjoyed his sense of humour even under pressure, he was also impressed that Prince wasnt bothered by his own rather formidable appearance and was happy to speak with him. I love that insight, it dosnt surprise me.

KZbin has allowed me appreciate Prince's genius level talent (people who can do things you haven't even yet imagined) far more than when I was young and thought that some of his singles were "catchy".
