When she travelled to north Greece to a cemetery where they buried her father(no muslim cemetery in Athens) she noticed around his tomb there were many people died the same date. She found out that where refugees trying to cross Mediterranean on boats but sunk ,among them kids.This song is insired n dedicated to her father n all these unamed victims

Marina's song is refering to all these refugees who are drowning in the Mediterranean sea trying to reach the coasts of the European countries in the hope to find new lives. Marina's father originating fron Sudan, made his way to Europe as a refugee but Marina is honoring his memory by remembering all those who were just like her father but didn't make it. The pain is both for her father and all the drown refugees.

After this video clip I decoded the songs' meaning and seems that Marina confirmed with her comment. The song lyrics refer to people, society and humanity which is like a sea that seems calm, despite the chaos and mess that exists, and gives priority to image and idols (that's why she says that the sea is like a mirror to birds). If anyone reacts to what is happening in life, is a wave which the sea pushes out to the shore. Marina asks for a miracle to happen and more waves to come, in order to bring up anything that hides underneath deep down in the abyss of society, and be seen. This way we would indeed give priority to what matters most. 😢😢😢😢😢

The video was created with the collaboration of UNHCR and all proceeeds will be donated to the children refugees fund. There's a link in her official video where we can actually make a contribution if we wish. The video is heartbreaking, every detail matters. I'm sorry for your loss.

It's both about her father and the migrant crisis. Basically the song was written for her father's death, but the video expands the theme focused on the migrant losses - which she connected to her father's death by visiting his cemetery, were many immigrants who died at sea were also burried
