As an older person who still travels a lot, your suggested reasons for taking flights with connections are the exact reasons I prefer flights with connections. And, oftentimes I don’t have a choice - thank you for always giving us great useful information.

Direct flights are longer but it’s definitely better for me. You sit down, arrive, and that’s it. No more stress, nothing more to do. Idk

My man. You are sooo right. I have a 23 hour layover in Jedda. Gonna see the City enjoy food n talk to folks.

Please talk about the complications and complexities of connecting flights too...How much time needed for connecting differ from each airport , do you need to clear immigration before checking in again , and the biggest headache of connecting flights lost or delayed luggages

Something he will refuse to talk about. Not to mention the level of stress that comes with it, especially when traveling alone.

Daaaaaaam bro, you're talking directly to me. I started valuing connecting flights(sometimes)lo, when I had a flight from Frankfurt to San Fran that bored me to hell, I was like never again such a long flight w/o a connection break. I am going to Greece next month and I was looking at Turkish, I remember their great food.

I recently found that traveling from Montreal to Quito was more expensive than traveling between Montreal and Cancun and from Cancun and Quito passing through Panama. There are more people from Montreal and Quito trying to visit Cancun than to the other city. Then I took the flight with the longest layover in Panama, which even costs slightly lower than the shortest layover one. Interestingly, a layover of a day would have cost me almost the double of that flight.

Well, for me i might be the only weirdo. I can't stand connection flights, as it would increase my anxiety. I will always rather get on one plane to get to my destination.

You should have said you have to check in you luggage if the airlines are not in partnership and then go through again etc

24 hour connection/layover rule is only for international connections... for domestic flights, it's generally 4 hours maximum layover. If you listed one negative of connections/layovers, it might be that the odds of SOMETHING going wrong go up about TEN FOLD... delayed flight, missed connection, lost baggage, downgrade, denied boarding, overbooking, fatigue, loss of time, more exposure to Covid, and on and on. It's not 2018 anymore.

Wow, Murphy! Experienced some of these personally. Lost checked luggage on transfer, airline fault going to Amsterdam. They found it but wasn't able to use while visiting. First plane lands late, less than 5 minutes to board the connection to Tokyo. Adverse weather flight delay. Had to spend, several hours in London and overnight in Iceland for the same. Didn't mind this so much, got to experience Reykjavík. And a self-transfer from EWR to LGA, of which using public transportation meant going from the trains to the subway to catching a bus.

@fakerating Жыл бұрын
If that's your job, I presume you don't have to check luggage, and you are covered by your employer for anything, including continuing to get paid while delayed. You are comparing an employee to a passenger, which isn't realistic. @@davidpham9353
