Disparue trop vite...

The more i have heard of her, the more i love her playing, phrasing, touch, sense of the composer's intent, and her courage. She is fragile. She is steel. She bends but never breaks. Music is her natural habitat. We lost such an incredible talent.

Since I started listening to her a few days ago I am amazed. I have heard these Impromptus dozen of times played by the best pianists. But I have NEVER heard them, especially the No. 3, played like this, purely MUSICAL thanks to Schubert. No attempt to bring out brilliance, technique, emotions. The same musical honesty I find in her interpretations of Chopin. I wonder why Brigitte Engerer is not more appreciated and popular like the other greats, Lipatti, Brendel, Rubinstein, Perahia,...

I do listen to it again, again and again... The more I do so (no 1 and 3), the more the evidence grows clear to me and I have to state: Yes, thus it is! As Hugo Wolf, Schubert dealt musically with the fact that he knew the way death would come upon him: many composition, or at least, some movements and extracts are prayers, and in at least one them, there is an answer (d960 - second movement). To interpret music of such nature demands a soul willingly to unfold itself before the unknown: mysteries that existence itself may pose upon every one of us sooner or later. It demands an heroic spirit to face it. It is a pity that we have not much more of Schubert by Engerer here on youtube, nonetheless, I would like to thank the uploader again for such a gem. Regards.

I love her playing and have wondered if she might have actually channeled Chopin. I've never heard anyone else come as close to what seems like the original.

Escucho a.

Magisterial and insightful. I personally like #4 just a very little more deliberate in tempo than she takes it. Vitya Babin once told a student, "you don't hurry in heaven".

She is one of the greatest pianists of our time. It is a shame how little she is known in Germany. Listen to Horowitz playing op. 90/3 and you will hear the difference between Bigitte Engerers true Schubert sound and the artificial style of Horowitz. In German we say „emotionales Getue“.

@@jiancai_nocturne but what does that have to do with art, with music? This is just a cowardly and scoundrel accusation to a person who can no longer defend herself. And what did you come here to do in a Brigitte Engerer publication? Who did you come to spy on? This is not your place, sorry.
