@@johnnichol9412 I heard a quote that the UK tax payer spent nearly £100m on the Royal Family in 2021...when you think of how much money will be generated in the economy, and of course tax paid, by people who will come to the UK as tourists (to visit locations that have featured prominently during the funeral, which was watched by massive audiences around the World)...I think that should be regarded as money well spent.
@AndyCutright2 жыл бұрын
@@Northstander It's true, they are big tourist attraction, and that's gotta generate an immense amount of tax revenue, and just plain cash for businesses all throughout Britain. Europe is chock-a-block with history and magnificent architecture. Nowhere else today though are you going to experience pomp and majesty equal to that of the British Monarchy. The changing of the guards would be a hollow without a monarch on the throne. It seems to me Queen Elizabeth II lived a life of duty, without complaint. She's wealthy and well compensated, there's no doubt. Nonetheless she served faithfully and selflessly until her dying day. Princess Anne seems cut from the same tree. I'm not a British taxpayer so my opinion isn't going to affect y'all, but you'd be wise to keep a monarch on the throne.

This American in California was so moved by Anne, the Princess Royal, throughout this time of mourning. Equally moved by the sailors pulling the gun carriage. Such honor on all sides. My Mom turns 97 in 12 days. She is 6 months older than Queen Elizabeth and as a Canadian, grew up with her. She remembers the photos of the Queen as a child and all her radio addresses and TV appearances. When I told her the Queen had died, she said only, "Oh!" Stoic, much like the Queen. But the emotions flitting across her face said so much. She was saying good-bye to a part of her life and a part of herself. So, a part of me died with Queen Elizabeth too. The grace she displayed so eloquently in life has surely carried her to heaven. Where she will no longer have to be in charge. May peace be upon Great Britain and King Charles.
