Personality goes a long way…that was a major asset….something about her gave off this radiance that was hard to explain…sensitive and overwhelming…..peaceful and in-genuine I'm afraid. Never got the attention the others received….then she fell into alcoholism. I met her many years ago at a New Years Eve party in Nassau, Bahamas. I think her pedigree attracted all the wrong people….yet maybe all she possessed. Indeed she was one of a kind…and without a doubt, a royal.

artbabee: How on earth did you get a photo of the crypt inside St. George's Chapel, where the bodies of George VI, and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother's lay, and that now includes Princess Margaret's urn? When I was there, picture taking was forbidden! Incredible! Will the queen also rest here when she dies? Thanks for sharing!

@periperigord The Queen manipulated her into giving Townsend up by telling her she had a duty to the royal family

She was, apparently, the nicest of the senior royals and the only one that was kind to Diana. The book I read about her stated that as a young woman she was very selfish, spoilt and attention-seeking. She loved the limelight and resented and was jealous of her older sister's position. The fact that she chose to give the supposed love of her life, Townsend, up in exchange for her title and all that came with it shows that she was insincere and materialistic - unlike Diana ref Mannakee/Hewitt.

It is said that Group Captain Peter Townsend was her first and only true love. They were forbidden to marry because he was divorced. In order to marry him, she would have had to give up her place in line to the throne and her royal allowance. So maybe she didn't love him as much as she thought.
