I'm glad to see someone on the spectrum travel alone. Im autistic and I've been traveling solo for years. I've been to six cities in within USA and I plan to go to more places. I never have issues navigating airports and mass transit, I research that before I go. I am scared to travel abroad because of the added security such as immigration but you are brave for traveling internationally alone.

Chloe, you're an amazing girl and that you're brave for traveling on your own. It's good to see that the staff was helpful and caring for you. The lanyards should be introduced everywhere as l seen some of the stories from others overseas. Great to see that you're having fun and that you're safe. Proud of you girl. All the best for your health and also your competition.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm going on my 5th overseas trip at the end of the year with my family (I'm 26) and have registered for the disability access at Melbourne airport. This means my family will also get the lanyards. I fly with Qatar airways and they are super helpful. Once my mum explained last time that I had autism I was able to get priority boarding, and they also stored my injectable medication in the fridge for me. They were lovely and I feel super confident flying with them again. It also helps that I have my parents with me who are totally understanding and super supportive. I also love Doha airport as it's super quiet with great soundproofing and low lighting. I'm so glad you're having a wonderful time and getting to fullfill a lifelong dream. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Oh wow, thank you algorithm for dropping this in my recs just now! I'm also autistic, and currently struggling with some other neuro crap as well (PNES and migraines) and I've been dreading my upcoming travels! Now I see one of the airports I'm flying to/from is in this program, and I just wrote the other one asking if they'd maybe join in the future. :D Also, _so_ envious of your amazing cowboying. That's the kind of riding I always wanted to do, but it's not a thing in Sweden. We're allowed dressage and showjumping and that's it (also cross-country if you're a daredevil who owns their own horse LOL). I rode a horse last summer for the first time in over ten years and it felt like coming home. Maybe one day I'll properly get back into riding again...

Chloe, I have been following you on Instagram, but this You Tube Video tells me even more about your wonderful trip to Texas:)!! Chole, I could not be HAPPIER FOR YOU:)!! I am so HAPPY that you got to have 2 lovely people acting as Angels and helping you in the airport as much as on the plane:)!! I always say that the side effects of kindness is MORE KINDNESS:)!! It is like when I had to get an MRI, I am terrified of enclosed spaces and MRI machines are like circular coffins to me. When I told a Technician that I am Claustrophobic, She gave me headphones to listen to Country Western Music Channel and she talked to me every 5 minutes, letting me know where we were at with the test. Chloe, your experience on the plane and in the airport reminded me of my experience in an MRI Machine. Chloe, I am so HAPPY that you are getting to do what you love--compete in Equestrian Events:)!! And Chloe, I could not agree more with you when you said, "If only Schools and Workplaces understood hidden disabilities". I believe if only people understood, not just Autism, but also other hidden physical disabilities like Interstitial Cystitis which is a painful bladder disease that can only be seen in a Cystoscope and not with our naked eyes. Chloe, I so agree with you that Children's lives would be so much better IF Teachers understood hidden disabilities, just like those 2 Angels who work for Sydney Airport and Melborne Airport in Australia!! So, I pray Chloe that you will be continuing to do well in Texas and that your Angels will see you safely home:)!! And Chloe may you collect many more happy memories of your adventures in America to remember any time you feel frightened or doubtful, that you traveled alone, you did it, and your Fans, like me, could not be happier for you:)!!!!!!

I went to Japan when I was 21. I enjoyed it, and I wish my experience had have been able to be like this. 1) STA Travel Agent contacts JAL, "We have an autistic student in this travel group. He's like Tajiri Satoshi," 2) I arrive at the airport on the morning of the flight and the agent, who was Japanese, says, "Is Peter Wynn here?" "Yes, that's me." "He speaks Japanese? Is that right?" "Yes." "This is (person's name), who'll be here to help you." 3) To the horror of one student in the group, who was a big mouth, "Would you like to come with me, please?" (the others get left in Economy Class and I get moved, at no extra expense, to First Class. I then ask the flight attendant if I can have the cover down over the window, as the bright sun annoys me. Hai (Yes). 4) same process repeated in Cairns. I arrive in Japan. I'm allowed to leave the plane before the others and I go to the baggage claim. Japan is actually a good place for a non-Japanese autistic, as it's clean, and many rules are written as well as unwritten. I relate to what you say about buses and trains, too. I said to someone once that the best way to travel on the train for me, would be if I could order a seating pod, rather than just a single seat, and I could close it off from the rest of the carriage (well, allow some opening for a little fresh air).

This is amazing to hear. I'd heard of the lanyards but I didn't realise this was a whole program. Also last time I went from Dallas to Sydney one of the flight there was a mother with an autistic son from my suburb! It's so good having this at Sydney and Melbourne and in my experience Dallas is by far the easiest airport in North America

Great information most airlines and airports are not equipped to help people who have disabilities of all types to be able to travel safely and securely and I am so glad that you had the opportunity and the chance to come to the United States even what’s cool is by yourself and I’m glad nothing was triggering because I would hate to see that happen for you and I am proud of you you are an inspiration to a lot of people and since you represented your own country that had to be a big honor and it sounded like in the video you were so proud to be able to do that and no one correction most airlines and airports are accommodating for people with disabilities of all types

That's awesome I am trying it out for the first time tomorrow! I love flying but early boarding would be awesome! For me everything goes too fast. If I can board early and be seated that would help. TSA has a program for people with disabilities called TSA care's so even if the lanyard isn't something they're trained with you can get assistance.

I like the idea of wearing the sunflower lanyard, but I'd think much more people than you'd think would know what this lanyard is, and I'd feel way too embarrassed to wear one, but it's nice to let others know there's a reason why I'm the way I am. We have a disability month now, so it's obvious there's posts including the sunflower lanyard. Soon most people would know.
