I am shocked that the first words when Cindy sings are "I'd like to be aggressive". dayum. The line, "if you agree, then let's do some."...they could never get away with that in this modern age.
@oktappasvartvatn39467 жыл бұрын
KrosanBeast315 You do realise Adventure Time has a character who openly speaks about her sexual escapades, right? The trick is that she doesn't speak English and they don't translate anything she says. While Lady Rainicorn is a fairly sweet and innocent character for the most part, she shares stories about streaking and "merging bodies" with Jake. She also enjoys being bitten. There is another character who is obviously a semi-senile grandmother type of character who acts like a seductive southern belle. She has been married four times and has repeatedly made suggestive remarks toward Finn. Granted, these quit when she married Mr. Pig.
@KrosanBeast3157 жыл бұрын
The Adventure Time character you mentioned(Lady Rainicorn) may not speak English(she speaks Korean)... But Cindy who is singing in this clip does. Also, the fact that Lady Rainicorn GOT PREGNANT WITH JAKE'S KIDS IN THE SHOW should never have happened or be described in the first place!! Who thought it was a good idea to allow such a topic to be portrayed? This means Jake is SEXUALLY ACTIVE, and for a show whose intended audience is boys from 2 -11... Is having a character that has had SEX(although off-screen) a good idea to promote in a CHILD'S cartoon??? Also, Adventure Time is so Piss Poor drawn compared to Hannah-Barbara or Warner Bros... Cartoons on Cartoon Network in the 90's were drawn WAYYYYY BETTER than Adventure Time. Cartoons in the 80's were drawn better than Adventure Time.
@oktappasvartvatn39467 жыл бұрын
KrosanBeast315 You realise that any cartoon character who has kids would be sexually active, right? That actually includes Goofy. Sheltering children from facts of life like that is a horrible thing to do. Also, you say Adventure Time is not as well drawn as Hannah-Barberra cartoons. If you can do one thing for me, I will admit defeat. Show me one example of recycled animation from Adventure Time. Hannah-Barberra were notorious for recycling animation. I should also point out that Adventure Time covers topics such as politics, Alzheimer's, father issues, abandonment, the choices we make and how they effect people, addiction, mid-life crises, skepticism, parenthood, growing up, and far more. The cartoons from the 90s would have never gotten away with dealing with these topics. Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and even My Little Pony are the same way. Kid's shows now are better than they've ever been.
@KrosanBeast3157 жыл бұрын
First of all, I am not implying any need to completely 'shelter' kids from 'the facts of life." No one can do that, it is impossible. But, as a creator of a cartoon, one can limit what the intended audience actively watches. Second, there is a difference with Jake. He married Lady Rainicorn, and then somewhere in the Adventure Time timeline, got her pregnant. What I don't understand is why show a cartoon character in a cartoon series INTENDED FOR AUDIENCES 2 - 11 YEARS OLD being sexually active DURING the series in the first place. The cartoons that I grew up watching when I was a kid from 2 - 11 years old: Noozles, The Adventures of the Little Koala, The World of David the Gnome, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Disney's Duck Tales, Disney's Rescue Rangers, G.I. Joe, Maya the Bee, Swat Kats, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Transformers, M.A.S.K., He-Man, She-Ra, Voltron(Go, Lions), The Little Prince... NO characters in those shows were sexually active DURING the series!! So, a lot of the cartoons from MY childhood were very different in that none of the characters were sexually active or implied as being so DURING the show's running and were drawn substantially better than Adventure Time. Oh, yes... As far as animation goes. I am not referencing just range of motion, frames per second, or recycled animation... but my point is how much unlike a dog Jake looks. Try to compare Jake's dog 'shape' to a character like Brain from Inspector Gadget or Spike from Heathcliff. Both of them look like dogs. There is really no way to say that they could be otherwise. Jake, on the other hand... looks like a yellow Jelly Bean with a poorly drawn face. His body is OVAL. Really? That is the best they can do??? There have even been dogs from Ren and Stimpy who are better drawn than Jake, and THAT was such a controversial cartoon that is had to be pulled from Nickelodeon: a network who allowed THIS line said by the then child voice actress for Helga Pataki, "Arnold, you make my girlhood tremble!" from Hey Arnold! to be broadcast.
@oktappasvartvatn39467 жыл бұрын
Actually, Lady and Jake are not married. That aside, it's not like there's an actual scene where Jake is having sex with Lady. There are just a lot of sex jokes involving the two that would go over most children's heads. As for the animation, there is this thing in art called "style." You say Jake looks nothing like a dog. That's fine, but show me one bear that looks remotely like Yogi. Also, Ren and Stimpy wasn't pulled from the air due to controversy. The creator and his animation company were fired because Nickelodeon was extremely restrictive over him and he had a scene where Ren beat the absolute shit out of someone. Ironically, Ren and Stimpy got away with far more when John Kricfalusi and Spümco were gone. They almost didn't allow one of the shows most iconic and tame episodes to air when Spümco was in control. Although, when Nickelodeon's own Games Studio took over, they got away with several self mutilation scenes, scarier imagery, suicide attempts, more sex jokes and sexual imagery, and so much more. Nickelodeon didn't end Ren and Stimpy for any of that, though. They ended it because the show had run its course and they needed to free up some time slots for new shows. Nickelodeon also allowed far more sex jokes than the one from Hey Arnold. Have you never seen Rocko's Modern Life? Although, in all honesty, this entire conversation feels like I'm talking to someone who is somewhere between the ages of ten and fourteen trying to sound older than he is by shitting on newer cartoons in favour of older cartoons.

Honestly, I feel bad for Yogi because she kept forcing him to remember her date even though “no” doesn’t mean “try harder” (in the movie “Hey There It’s Yogi Bear” (which I like, btw, at least for Hanna-Barbera standards), she’s just lucky Yogi finally said yes and… we’re lucky she didn’t scream for help that Yogi was trying to sexually assault her). Say what you want about the 2010 Yogi Bear movie (I think it’s good not by general standards, but by live-action remake standards so it’s average), but I think I can see why Cindy Bear wasn’t in this movie because she would be considered too stereotypically feminine by 2010s standards.

Cute watching the sparks fly between Yogi and Cindy and the other forest animals :-) Forget the new Yogi Bear movie, why isn't this on Boomerang? If not Boomerang, how about Turner Classic Movies? They're already showing some of the Disney classics.

Remember when Yogi was relevant to the Cartoon Network and his movie aired on the channel as well as Disney Channel? Pepridge Farm remembers.

When Cindy Bear made her first appearance as a cartoon character on the YOGI BEAR SHOW in the early 1960's, she looked entirely different from the one we all know. She was violet blue and a had an ugly face. However, when this cartoon movie came to theaters she made a beautiful and sexy transition.

@@Soulbone3 I get what you mean, but it’s the difference between saying ”most people aren’t redheads” or ”red hair is rare” and saying ”it’s a FACT that NO ONE has red hair”. Doesn’t matter if the main characters aren’t redheads, the statement is just wrong. Keep in mind, I don’t take this super seriously. Just thought it would be funny to point out as someone with a Snagglepuss profile, a fellow Hanna Barbera character who people made fun of for ”acting gay” and was later confirmed to be. It’s just a joke. Edit: The picture being from Laff-A-Lympics, where Snags was a reporter, I think adds to it.
@PaceFilmsProductions2 жыл бұрын
It might still be considerably less than Disney or Warner Bros but it’s still weird seeing Hanna Barbera characters of this era moving this much and smoothly.
@ToonReel0012 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they're almost back to their later-Tom and Jerry era of fluidity here. Shame they didn't get that budget back more often in the 60s. Fun fact: They also spruced up Cindy's design for this movie specifically. Before this she was just a blue Yogi in a dress.
@PaceFilmsProductions2 жыл бұрын
I just googled it and wow you weren’t kidding. I guess I must not have seen any of the shorts that went that far back. It’s always interesting when it takes them a second try to create make the definite design.
