For all we know it the lyrical subject could be singing about themselves. That's how Japanese works sometimes, you need context clues to discern stuff.

As far as the lyrics go, it makes far more sense for the "original" singer of the song to be female. Like "in-universe" it's a female sung song they are doing karaoke of. But as players, we never hear it and only hear the guys doing it. Adds a bit to the humor of it and at the same time, it fits a male singer rather well, minus some lyrics.
