Mark King's bass absolutely rules this performance; he truly appears like he's having a great time. Then there's Mark Knopfler and his fills. Howard Jones must've been ecstatic to play with such a band. Best version of this song EVER.

The problem with Howard Jones is that he’s forgotten a lot when the conversation about 80s music comes up. I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since I was a teenager. Seem like he just disappeared after a while. But he was an intricate part of the 80s music scene. Even here in the states. Granted he wasn’t on the level of Wham! or Duran Duran any of those other English acts. But he stood on his own with great music and great songwriting. Your songs had a sound all the wrong. His style and sound got in your head and stayed there. You could easily pick one of his songs out on the radio. I am I would love to find some current music of his. I’m sure much like Duran Duran, his music just gets better with age.

I had the absolute AMAZING PLEASURE of seeing/hearing Howard Jones live at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. I had just to Solana Beach. Those were the best days of my life when I was fearless and moved across the country with little in my pocket and knew no one there. I knew how lucky I was to be living in that moment. If you’ve ever been to Belly Up Tavern or just to Solana Beach, you’d understand. But Howard Jones’s music lives deep in my soul when I was growing up in the 80’s. Thank you Sir Jones for touching so many souls so profoundly. 🙏

My God, his voice sounds great live! You know, the real reason Howard Jones was shafted by the critics was because he didn't embrace the Narccissim of the 80's. While Prince, ZZ Top and Madonna were obessed with putting raw sexuality on the table, Howard Jones what asking inquisitive questions like "What is Love?" Or he was sining about simple, positive things. The media resented him for that. You could hear in in the scathing reviews he would get. They would even consciously exclude him from lists of synth-pop pioneers, complexly bashing him, a gay man who didn't TRY to be gay. Howard Jones was a true Old Soul, who sang an played with pure soul. I played this very song on piano as an instrumental for certain parts of the Mass. God Bless you, Mr. Howards Jones. Your sound will never die! - _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole_
