if i were to make a guess i would say he was adopted into a royal family and looked up to an older brother who was a true prince. then there was an accident (possibly caused by the younger brother) that resulted in the true prince dying and the adopted child inheriting the throne. this song is the adopted child arguing with his conscience taking the form of his brother, who he truly cared about and respected. i would also guess that the older brother was somewhat abusive in life, but the adopted one just tried to ignore it.

Royalty = trans in the song" "There’s a verse at the end about lionel’s brother which actually represents my sister who passed away"
