I remember one time in 3rd grade I didn't do my homework so when the teacher announced that she was picking up homework I asked if I could use the bathroom. She let me go and I hid in the bathroom for 15 minutes. When I went back to class the teacher had moved on and never asked me about the homework.

I remember I got a zero for homework because my page was torn in half. We had to tear a page out of a workbook but mine's tore in half. I taped it up and did what I could with it and still got a zero counting it like if I didn't do the assignment.

When my brother was in middle school, his class was issued school laptops. One day, our Husky puppy jumped up on the couch and knocked the laptop off, destroying it. Mom saw the whole thing and knew if my brother made the excuse "my dog broke it," no one would believe him, so she went to school with him the next day to explain that it was true.

A dog actually ate my homework one time in 4th grade😂 I was staying the night at my grandparents’ house and was doing a math worksheet and I think I took a break from it, next thing I know I walked into the living room to my grandparents’ dog chewing it up. I was a goody-goody as a kid and was freaking out. My grandmother ended up writing a note for me to give to my teacher so she’d know I was telling the truth, haha

If Cookie thought Vanessa was lying about her grandma and was so convince that was actually Vanessa in disguise. Why still push her off her wheelchair down the stairs? Let say Cookie was right, and this whole time, Vanessa actually was making the whole thing up. She came up with all of these excuses, she disguised herself as her grandma. She can actually walk. But why would Cookie tilt her off the wheelchair, causing her to lose her balance and fall down the stairs? Again, if Cookie was actually right this whole time, Vanessa would literally end up in a wheelchair. Or at least crutches, which would be kinda ironic since at the beginning of the episode, Cookie faked an injury and pretend to use a crutch.

What came to him was a student explaining to him what was going on, and to help other people get the message that they're not alone.

I don’t think I ever made many excuses when I was in school because I absolutely hated lying. And if I did lie. It didn’t take long for me to admit I was lying. The good thing though is in high school. They had this program called homework hive where you were allowed to stay after school to get any homework done so it wouldn’t be considered late homework since you could get it done ahead of time.

In fourth grade, I was working on homework on the way home on the school bus, so my folder containing the material for that class was out. It was really windy that day. I didn’t realize the bus already stopped at the designated stop for home, so I rushed to the exit. Lo and behold, as I was scrambling to put my folder inside my backpack, I let go of my homework and it got blown out of my hands. I had no idea cause I was holding my folder and my homework was on top of the folder. I didn’t realize until I got inside. Now, imagine my surprise when my teacher doesn’t believe me once I say, “The wind blew my homework away!” (I was a chronic excuse giver because I was never one to do my homework. 4th grade was particularly bad with me not doing homework, but I still passed!) 14:49: Annndddd that’s a lawsuit!

I remember one day I was having a pretty bad back pain in class, I told the teacher and I went home early, that was the first time and one of the few GENUINE times I had to get out of school for a medical problem After that I started making fake excuses about being ill so I could skip a class, a quiz or for the sake of going home early, I did this for years until the teachers and the school staff stopped believing me (my mom also called me out) So for the two remaining school years I had left I never made any excuses again, not even when I actually felt sick, I just tanked the actual illness or the pain until I was done with the school for the day, that’s how big my guilt was

A good tip would be that if you don't do your homework or you forgot to do it, you can make up for it and still get _partially_ graded, at least that's what I was taught in High School from my English Teacher.

I knew a troublemaker student in Highschool who was missing major assignments for IB classes one time, but he told each of his 6/7 teachers a different excuse! Apparently they all had a meeting with him and fact checked. Last i heard of this kid, he was accepted into a good college and wamted to be a brain surgeon...God help us all!

In my middle school years, the homeroom teacher would only little often bring her dog to the room. Seeing how I was using a laptop for my homework, I didn't have to worry too much about it getting eaten. I even became a dog owner myself, and I'm always careful when I was studying, and my dog was around. I didn't want to risk having to resort to that excuse because I knew no one would believe it. Oh, and if I ever heard a friend of mine make a granny excuse like that and she somehow came over, I would NEVER resort to what Cookie did with the stairs... ever. Even when I thought Vanessa was faking, I was like, "Wait, Cookie, I don't think that's a good idea!" Boy was I right. And now I was sure Cookie would get over a thousand slaps from a furious Vanessa.

Well, here it goes... I was second guessing myself on if I should do this one or Not. But, in Elementary School only from 3rd Grade to 2nd 5th Grade since I was hold back a year. My Excuses started from 3rd Grade and onward. Why? Not for Homework reasons... I had pretended to be sick and had stayed home on multiple of occasions and idk why I did this cause I had no reason to but my younger self figured it was a good idea at the time. If I could use a Time Machine to stop my Sick Excuses in Elementary then I would. But, don't ask me why I was making Sick Excuses if it wasnt to miss Homework. So, this is the reason... I had a crush on a girl in my 2nd Class. Not 2nd Period, 2nd Class. I had a Homeroom Teacher was my everyday teacher like to learn everything from teach then a 2nd Class to represent for Special Classes like P.E or Music or Art or Science since Science was a separate class back then than on the regular teaching levels. So, my Sick Excuses got worst and worst apparently... until I had gave my teacher's assistant a Heart Attack (Not a Real One, She was like overly panicking) Cause I had timed it perfectly like after Halloween I think it was. Anyways, my mother still remembers this if you want the whole detail. I barely remember it. (Oh yeah, why did she overly panicked.) Cause the worst of the worst lies and of me being sick was sooooooooo bad that I had pretended to put myself in a wheelchair for an Ambulance to show up at My School for no reason and my mom had caught me on the lie. Idk why I lied and made sick excuses to get away from a Girl that I had a Crush on in my Special Classes but, she wasn't in my regular classes so I only saw her like once sometimes twice if I was stuck with the class but yeah. Anyways, I did got in trouble at home whenever my parents got home from work and saw me at home and Not at school. But, I didnt pretend to be sick cause I hated Pelican Elementary, No. I didn't pretend to be sick just to be sick. I was just in love with a girl around my age and was shy around her was all. So, it was harmless but it was hard to explain to my parents and teachers. Literally, you are the only one that knows the real truth.

Speaking of dogs in school, I had a friend in high school who brought her service dog to school, it was usually chilling laying down not bothering people. But for some reason our English teacher didn't like her and notified the principal that the service dog was "distracting". I was in that class with the dog, it wasn't bothering anybody and everyone did their work just fine, so since the English teacher notified the principal, she wasn't allowed to bring in the service dog anymore. Rightfully my friend was mad about it but sadly, there was nothing she could do about it, I'd like your opinion on this matter.

Back in fourth grade, my school did this thing where the teachers would give us “banana bucks”, a type of fake currency used to “purchase” certain privileges and-or physical objects at certain times. There was one time where we were given the task to write something down in our planners before a certain day, I was supposed to have my para write it down otherwise a banana buck would be taken away. Needless to say, the morning rolled around and I didn’t have that completed. But my para saw what was on the board and wrote it down to my planner before the teacher came by my desk area. Because of this, I ended up receiving a banana buck instead of having one taken away! As far as I know, Ms. McShane wasn’t the wiser.

If you thought the whole "my dog ate my homework" is ridiculous, wait until you hear "My cat almost ate my video game." You know those little Nintendo Switch cartridges? I let my cat smell my Epic Mickey Rebrushed game, she started to play with it. Then she ran away with the game in her mouth. I had to chase her. But she insisted on having Mickey for a meal. Luckily, she dropped the game, didn't end up stuck in her throat and she didn't damage the game. I was very surprised when she stole my video game.

It originally came out for the Wii in 2010, now recently remastered on newer consoles. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is in that game too. In real life, he was created by Walt Disney before Mickey Mouse.

😍 Cute dog. My cat might have chewed on the edge of my schoolwork one time, but it didn't ruin it too bad. You should check out the 1st episode of Disney's Teachers Pet. I never made excuses in school as far as I remember, but I did struggle in gym and always tried to avoid a lot of it as much as I could. Otherwise I would have had a heart attack or got trampled.

This is why I believe that people should always tell the truth, no matter how much it hurts. Telling any kind of lie always has the potential to wield undesirable consequences. On one hand, if somebody knows that you're lying, then they may be less inclined to believe you when you tell the truth. On the other hand, if they do believe you, they may do something undesirable due to them not knowing your true intentions. Moving on to a different type of lying, my parents used to beg me to stop being brutally honest with people and to start telling little white lies in order to keep from hurting their feelings, but I always refused to do that, as while I do not believe in insulting people, it is always best to offer constructive criticism when the truth hurts. Because we encourage others to tell little white lies, we have created a society of thin-skinned individuals who presume that even the most constructive forms of criticism is intended to be insulting, even though most people criticize with constructive intent. My apologies if I got a little bit too philosophical; as always, great video Mr. B!

I disagree with the "excuses are lies" line. Sometimes they're lies, but them being lies isn't what distinguishes an excuse from a reason, what distinguishes them are reasons are neutral and simply explain something, while an excuse tries to absolve you of responsibility. You can have an excuse be a horrible excuse that shouldn't absolve you of anything and still have it be true. The exact same thing can either be a reason or an excuse depending on how you try to spin it. That's why I don't really agree with the "excuses are lies" line. It's more like false excuses are lies. Which an excuse that's a lie isn't the same as an excuse that's technically true but doesn't absolve you of responsibility.

Sorry I didn't do my homework, my neighbors dog eat it, than a crocdile eat that dog, an asteriod hit the crocdile that had the dog that had the homework I did. Aliens used a UFO to pick up the asteroid and now my homework is currently at Kepler-1606B which is 2,870 light years away where the aliens live. I can let them know you asked for my homework but communication is slow and by the time they'll respond it will be your great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandson will receive the message.
