Those were two very important lessons. Thanks Bonnie for sharing. Kids influence each other and by having them face consequences of others mistakes, it teaches them all to do the right thing and look out for each other. And yes, life sometimes isn’t fair. You are raising some incredible kids Bonnie.

Yes! I can not agree more on kids knowing life sometimes isn't fair. How to handle that in a proper positive way! I have instilled this in my kids as well. Sometimes life is not fair. It is not the end of the world. Love this times a billion!

Britt Dela Your going to feel sad for a while and that’s ok. Your feelings are so valid and it’s ok to feel the way you do. Sometimes you just have to allow yourself to feel without feeling guilty for it. Things will start to get better soon. They may have not been your fish in the sea, but your going to find someone who makes all this heartbreak worth it.

My biggest advice is delete the other person in all social media. I know it’s the hardest thing in the world but it will make things a million times easier in the long run. Surround yourself with happy people. Do things you enjoy. Cry. Talk to someone about it. Write down your feelings. Hang in there ❤️❤️❤️

Bonnie - you taught your kids such a valuable lesson. “Sometimes life isn’t fare”. It’s so true, I have had to tell my kids the same. It’s so hard for them to understand and it frustrates me now as an adult but it is something we have to accept. Group punishment at school is a tough one; same as kids pushing to the front of the queue get served first. You’re a great mum Bonnie, keep doing what you’re doing xx

Hurrah for your parenting style. Too many parents won't let their child learn that sometimes life is unfair. We live in an imperfect world. Great lesson for Cody. It sounded like to me that his friend fell in the area where he wasn't supposed to be and Cody went to help him? Is that what happened? Kudos to you that you don't fight their battles for them.

I really dislike sanctions for all, when one person does something. What is that teaching our children. If someone commits a crime near you, should you receive a prison sentence too?
@lonnajoy5 жыл бұрын
Except sometimes a lot of times innocent people suffer due to one person doing the wrong thing. It stinks,but that's life. As a teacher it is sometimes necessary to do this because you don't always have the resources to figure out who did what. Also there it makes the punishment sink in more when your friends are frustrated that you disobeyed the rules. It should be done rarely, but sometimes it is necessary or helpful. As a teacher I did it once or twice when there was a habitual habit going on by most or no one was willing to fess up.
@joanneclifford825 жыл бұрын
@@lonnajoy you are right that people often suffer from others behaviour. In this instance innocent people suffer from the teachers decision. It has the potential for people to develop a dislike of authority. No matter how young. Each person needs to be treated as an individual. I am a teacher and I understand the need to build resilience. But I don't agree this is the right way.

@TheBlissfullyDandy5 жыл бұрын
Maybe it teaches that life isn't fair, but it's still pretty ridiculous for the teachers to punish everyone like that and make the kids who did nothing wrong feel like "bad" kids just for having to go to refocus or whatever.
@igna835 жыл бұрын
I agree that not everyone should be punished for something one or a few do wrong; however, with young kids, this tactic can help them differentiate between who they choose to emulate, hang out with, or follow down the wrong path so to speak. And if/when the majority in the group, classroom, etc. use their numbers to band together and help the "one or a few" make a better choice for the good of the whole, that works too. This said, as students get older--I'd say by 4th or 5th grade and up--this tactic no longer works very well. I teach 6th through 12th grade and by that point, my students are making decisions for themselves for pretty much the majority of their daily lives and having to live with the consequences...they either choose to follow the right path or the risky one. And I will say, at the junior high level, the majority of students make good decisions, show respect, and do their best to be responsible. But there are still a select few who just cannot seem to make good decisions at all and unfortunately, the majority in this group are male. I've lived it in the classroom and at home because my son failed miserably at making appropriate choices from the time he was Cody's age up until around Thanksgiving during 8th grade, which was just last Fall. Then something clicked, and I'm thankful it did!

There’s always gonna be those people that have to be negative about everything. Buy anyways, maybe you need to fix your salmon differently, I take light mayonnaise, add in capers and Parmesan cheese, mix it all together and pile on top of the salmon, if the mixture is too thick, add in a little bit of the liquid from the capers and cook until the mixture starts to brown, the salmon has such a yummy flavor and very moist, I made up this recipe after having something close to it on a cruise. It’s my absolute favorite meal.

Bonnie, I am the same with the kids and electronics. I don't usually let the kids go on electronics during the week, but the weekends they can. However I've been letting my oldest who is 8 go on the laptop for math games and to practice coding during the week 🙈. It's a little struggle, but he is learning (that's what I keep telling myself 😅). PS - I am a salmon lover as well, but too much of it turns me off after awhile. Taking a break from it will make you appreciate it again when you decide to revisit it. Maybe try basa filets if you were looking for another fish to eat.
