Thanks for saying that. Hearing people find the videos helpful is enough.

Great video! And having the vent monitor side by side is so much more helpful. Please continue making more videos.

dabbsy1975 - I'm really glad you find the videos useful. I'll keep making them as long as I keep hearing people find them helpful. You're right about plateau pressure. It's not going to be that useful in helping you figure out there is an ETT obstruction in pressure control. It's more reflective of alveolar pressure/conditions (which shouldn't be affected much in ETT obstruction). You also have to think that if the resistance is really high, you may not actually be ventilating the alveoli in pressure control. Remember if we set a PC of let's say 20, and the resulting tidal volume is 500mls, if the airway obstructs, that 20cmH2O is unlikely to overcome the resistance and actually ventilate the alveoli. As a result you may not even get an accurate plateau pressure. Hope that helps.

That was helpful video. Thank you. You said that the Pressure is 26 because you were using a test lung. Ok, but what if the pressure is 26 instead of 25 in real patient! Could it be autoPEEP?!!

I thought boyles law was inversely related? If you increase pressure the volume decreases… ?

No! There will be LOTS more. I'm just ++ busy at the moment. I plan to record some more soon. Then we will start integrating these videos with the ABG playlist, PFT playlist to create clinical scenarios, and work through ventilation problem. Lots more to come.
