It’s ironic that you’re in Prineville on the 4th of July. My Mom lives in Prineville, and the 4th of July is her birthday!

Born and raised there in hooterville. Best camping in the country, big pines, small creeks, but now? I dont know, I moved out after returning for 8 yrs, to many outsiders moving there, and theyre sheating on the ochoco's. Plus its getting super expensive.

That little ice cream and burger joint good place to get something to go. Then walk across the street sit under the shade trees of the courthouse and just take it easy! Did that several times with my family over 50 years ago!

Data centers in semi-arid places are evil... My folks used to own the house w/the red roof on the right at 5:43 (it had a cedar shake roof then). It was built by the WPA during the Depression in the 1930's as housing for US Forest Service workers - that was the biggest one of several, for the District Ranger, I think. Architect was the same as for Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. At 5:33-4, just as the house above goes out of view, another on the opposite (left) side of the street can be seen that is almost the same design - another one of the WPA houses (there were five or seven total, don't know how many survive now). FWIW the buildings at Union Creek, OR (on the way from Diamond Lake/ Crater Lake area to the Rogue Valley were also built by the WPA and in almost the exact style as the Prineville houses... Think of what could have been accomplished after the 2008-9 meltdown if we had put money and effort into things like that instead of bailing out bazillionaires.
