The only problem is that over time, whatever you inscribed on the CD/DVD, will fade away within a couple of years. All song titles that I put on the CD, just faded away within 2-3 years. This happened on both the color and gold discs

If you do it use the gold top they last a lot longer. they make colored top ones everyone of those faded to nothing....@@gkiss2030

i used to do this when i was a DJ, it was so much better to print the tracks on the cd than having to do it with a marker...Lightscribe for me was a decision on which laptop or pc i could buy ...good times.

Cool technology! I am also the "younger audience" and I heard about that from my uncle as a fun fact, so I googled it and that's how I found your video. Very interesting and informative video. Maybe lightscribing is totally useless nowadays, but still cool.

useless..depends....i still burn movies and other stuff on CD / DVD and keep them on a safe place...especially software that sometimes might come from the "high seas" and windows defender will delete the "crack" right away...it can not do it on a CD or DVD...lol (i totally do not suggest the high seas)

Trying to disconnect myself from music streaming cuz im not a fan of how its impacted my music consumption, so i just bought an external lightscribe reader/writer to make custom mixtapes and bootlegs for my own use lol

i have an entire stack of CDs on my car...i know there are usb ports and the "rental music" too...but nothing has the sound quality of a CD in my opinion...you didn't bootleg them..you simply are preserving music for yourself ...i like music and respect it, but not the way it's being done these days that you have to pay monthly and have an active internet connection to listen to what you already bought...if they want to call it bootleg, so be it lol

That was a great video my friend. Have 2 LS drives in PCs that I built along with the LS disks. I'm guessing I might be older than you considering my first pc was a Commodore. When I made lightscribe disks one of the things I made was clocks out of the disks with lightscribe printing on. YA those were the days. We gotta move forward though. Nowadays I use floppy disks for coasters 🤣😎👍

Comodore is still Comodore...it's a machine that demands RESPECT....yeah Lightscribe was really fun...i still use CD/DVD for files and backups...especially when i want to keep them safe since no ransomware attack or virus can chage those files on Non-RW cd/dvd...for me this matters more than the pc itself.....just wanna say, you guys are the actual computer geniuses and pioneers, all tech we have today is because you guys didn't give up on those Amigas and Comodores...so i am thankful, and i mean it.

the tech is actually pretty old now, i remember 20 years ago it was a thing, but it never took off. and today people just dont burn disks as much you can still find the drives, and what not but theyre getting expensive.

i remember printers that would actually print a sticker label for the cd and there were labels for the cd case itself...i think most printers still do it if you get the labels

your best bet would either be ebay or goodwill...make sure the cd-rom has "Lightscribe" on it..the logo must be printed on the cd-rom itself..otherwise it doesn't work...you can just search on google "lightscribe logo"..and make sure the same one is on that cd-rom you will buy.

I now really wanna get a usb Lightscribe device for my computer. There's cartoon a series that I REALLY love, but it does not have an official physical release as of yet. If my internet goes out and I wanna watch it, my computer dies, or my Amazon Prime subscription runs out m, I'm screwed. I'm glad I know I can make high-quality DVDs for relatively cheap. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably just give the bootleg copy to my step-brother if they produce physical copies. With how popular the show is, I'm sure they will, but I'm very impatient.

Yeah except you failed to mention that you need a Lightscribe DVD-Writer drive too. I can just see it now, tons of people buying Lightscribe CD/DVDs off Amazon, only to find out nothing happens when they insert it into their regular CD/DVD drive. You need BOTH a LIGHTSCRIBE CD/DVD WRITER ***AND*** LIGHTSCRIBE CD/DVDs!!!! Not just one or the other.... YOU NEED BOTH!

This is so cool as when I try companies they want a minimum of 100 CDs to print on. I have a rewriter in my laptop and I'm wondering will it be able to still print on my DVD? It's a refurbished laptop and I've checked the writing on the rewriter itself, and it does not say light scribed. Does that mean it won't work? I also want the inner case to have the same graphics as on the DVD with a list of text on on the insert. Like the list of tracks on it. Can I get it in different colours as to the black and white you use in the video?

if your drive has the Lightscribe....just make sure your DVD disc has Lightscribe too (check on the middle near the hole) then it should print without a hick up

I totally forgot about this. I did purchase LightScribe. I can't remember though. I have the Discs and all my external DVD drives in storage. Did I have to buy a special Burner for the LightScribe to work? Or just LightScribe software? It's been so long thanks!

Check your CD/DVD writer if it has the "Lightscribe" logo on it, if it does...you're good to go...either will say Lightscribe. Or will have the logo alone.

after you install lightscribe and nero...just go to nero and find "Label Maker" or designer...you will find it there if your computer had a Lightscribe rom too

I bought a lightscribed DVD burner and when I go to Nero cover designer there is no print light scribe button. Do you know why this is?

on Nero look for "Cover Designer" there you should see the options i have on video...and check out the lightscribe software itself, sometimes you might need to install it too as a driver : lightscribesoftware.org/freesoftware/

i used to use Roxio Express Labeler 3.2...it's quite similar to nero's labeler in design...plus i had the Roxio Creator suite 9...that's good stuff....i wish software was still that stable and useful...and without a million subscriptions like we have these days

if Verbatim/Sony are "Lightscribe" discs, they must have a label that says it...regarding the data, no it does not mess with the data at all.

There used to be some disks that would do almost like a color look but not exactly a "coloring" as you ask...it was more of an effect, but the answer would be NO since those cd's don't exist anymore
