Does anyone know what happened to Kodak Paper/Chems??
@rebeccasuur

Didn’t Sino Promise Group cease all production of Kodak chemicals and paper? I think I heard it somewhere at the silvergrain connection podcast when Mirco from Adox was on or when they discussed the „new“ Tetenal. I’m not sure.
@stephensardos6418

On the "Dons Used Photo Eauipment" channel, they discussed what happened to the paper and the chemicals that Kodak made, "Sino Promise Group", the distributors, put out a statement on it. When I find the exact video, where I saw it, I'll link it in my comment.

Out off production just as the paper. Kodak didn’t produce them, and the company that did “sino promise “ went out of business. Ra4 chems are all the same basically, ao if you got the stuff from fuji/tetenal/adox any other should do the same trick

@@bngr_bngr yes it does just like any other photographic material. You’ll probably have a weird base fog and color response. Still you should try it out and see if you like it!

I like these sort of doing it videos, kind of why I really enjoy your car channel. This one does assure me of two things. First, the cost of printing at an awesome, professional lab (for people who don't have nearby access to your darkroom) is an amazing bargain, and, second, the cost of even the most expensive digital camera that makes perfect colors I love is even a more amazing bargain! Cheers, Willem!

sometimes i feel like digital image is too much hassle but this process looked much more enjoyable than software editing, I wish i would be more accessible in terms on expenses, how much does all of it cost from roll of film to getting a ready picture to hold in your hands?
@pedronunes6401
@pedronunes6401 8 ай бұрын
Hey mate, i do the same process and here is a breakdown for costs of the consumables: around 12€ per rool (120), ars imago developing kit 35€ (good for 15 rolls, so around 2,5€ per roll), box of 50 sheets 30x40cm of fuji dpii around 60€ (if you cut them in half at about 8x10 inches size you get 100 sheets for same price) and for half a box a adox ra4 kit for about 25€, so roughly 100€ for 100 8x10 photos. You’ll take around two or 3 sheets till you get done, so worst case scenario if you print every single shot (which you won’t) and if you shoot 6,45 it should be around 4€ a shot if you do it all yourself. Of course bigger prints are more expensive, but not that much cause you can do all your tests on small pieces of paper. And even with all that, it’s still cheaper or around the same price as an equivalent quality and archivability inkjet. Hope this helped!
@samgerers
@samgerers 8 ай бұрын
The hassle is significantly bigger in the darkroom, I've worked hours to just get two final images (but multiples of them!), and I only do b&w, but it is so much more satisfying than doing digital editing. It can also be very frustrating when stuff doesn't work out, but it's still worth it.
@pedronunes6401
@pedronunes6401 8 ай бұрын
@@samgerers for me bw is waaayyy more time consuming that then color, it usually takes me 3 hour with black and white and 40min with color to get a good final print. But you do have to compare it to when you edit to make a print. When i have to print from digital files i spend much more than 4 hours between proofing and editing till i get a final print. With the darkroom i get a final print right then and there
