I used to print my labels at home (online labels too) and I loved as much as you do for the same reasons you listed. But I switched this year for profissional printed service and I don’t regret at all. I highly recommend it! It’s very worth it and gave me more time to work on things that I enjoy more. Not to mention that the labels look much more professional. I design them myself and I use Avery. Love them! I think you won’t regret as well! 🤗❤️😘

I use a color inkjet but I also spray them with a thin layer of clear sealer (rustoleum ultra gloss spray paint). It makes them water/touch resistant.

I love printing my labels because of the flexibility it gives me. And its even better now that i can laminate the labels using the clear gloss labels of the same size. I even offer customers personalized labels. I am not in a hurry to go back to professional printing to be honest. In house printing is more cost effective. And I print about 800- 1000 labels at a time, like 1 in 2months. Laser printing is alot more cost effective in the long run than Ink jet. I have had my laser printer since 2014. It is working well. I just service and change toner. Thank you Erica for introducing me to Online labels. I found them out from this channel 2020 I think. 😊

I print everything at home myself. I use Avery & Online Labels. I like Avery's design studio more than Online labels. I don't think I could give up the convenience of creating my own labels. I print just what I need as I need them, having very little overstock of printed labels. I tend to rebrand some of my scents at the end of the season to a different name, so having the ability to create a new label on the fly is pretty important for me. I have both inkjet and laser printers for my labels. Some do better with the inkjet, while others tend to do better with the laser printer. (For example, I print all of my room spray labels on inkjet waterproof matte labels. I print all of my candles on laser jet waterproof semi-gloss labels.)

I am just starting my candle journey and I had Avery print labels for me. And then saw one of your videos about putting the net weight on the label. What I did was put the entire weight of the jar. So I spent $30 on labels I can’t use. 😢. So then I bought the blank labels and printed myself with my cheap inkjet printer. They came out pretty good. So going forward I may just print myself for now. At least until I am confident in my label design. Thank you for your help!

I’ve been thinking of this recently too! I have the Canon Pixma printer, I forget the model number, I use white textured linen paper to give a beachy/elevated look and use my cricut maker to cut them out and use an adhesive spray to put them on. It takes up a bit of time to do everything but I’m just starting out so I may change things as I grow (hopefully!). My biggest reason for doing them myself was because I’m located in Hawaii and shipping costs here are insane, even for labels and paper and I want to be as eco friendly and sustainable as possible so I wanted to use a pretty, recycled paper instead of a vinyl sticker or something like it that won’t break down at the end of the candles life cycle. Thanks for creating this talking point and sharing Erica, much love and aloha! If anyone in the comments has eco friendly sticker alternatives/ideas I’d love to hear! ☺️

I do both. My candles I have the professional done. I am using a creamy white textured paper. They run me about .27 to .36 cent each depending on how many I order. But, on my wax melts, I am printing them myself on kraft paper from Online Labels. I am doing a soft launch next week!

I am in the beginning stages and am just trying to learn how to make my own labels. I agree with you, that it is a skill I want to have, even if I ever switch to a professional. You never know what could happen and at least I could still depend on me as a fallback.

I currently print my own labels but lately have been struggling with the margins and wanting to up the printing quality! I buy my labels from online labels, and have never had issues. I had them print my men's collection because it was all black, but then fast forward 6 months and I am changing everything lol. I'm totally that indecisive person too. I love the flexibility of printing my own, but my printer isn't up to par, so I'm weighing out pros and cons too, timely video! Thanks!!

I struggled with labels for a very long time. I went through so many different papers, printers and programs lol. I now use Online Labels, the recycled paper ones. I actually use Staples to have my labels printed. I save the design from Online Labels to a drive and bring in my paper. I only pay 19 cents a page! I haven't had any issues, and I can print as many as I need. This has been such a time saver and stress relief. They also are very crisp and look amazing!

We print ours at home using Weatherproof Matte paper from Online Labels, HOWEVER! I did just get a Cricut cutting machine and ran some tests with some nice, glossy vinyl and they look fantastic and can be cut to custom shapes so we are thinking about switching over once we run out of our current stock of labels.

You have to print through adobe I promise aligning them becomes soooooo much easier. Most computers resize automatically and end up being out of line. I have a blk/white laser and foil them to have them in colors yes it’s been a learn as you kinda thing but so has everything else in the world of candle making

I've been printing my own, but I initially used a Canon printer which was so aggravating because I constantly ran out of ink. I decided to switch to an Epson ecotank🙌🏾changed my life! I still print my own because I am indecisive also and I foil some of my labels, plus I'm still too frugal when it comes to using a service lol. If I found one that will allow me to purchase small batches, for a reasonable price then maybe. But for now, I will work with what suits me 🤷🏽

@jenniferohjennie
@jenniferohjennie Жыл бұрын
@@ValentinaMSanchezH It was such a relief! I had to buy ink like every month with my old printer. I have had the Epson for months now and the ink has barely moved. Not only does the ink last a year or so, but even the refills all come in one pack and are reasonable. The print quality is great also. I am not sure if you can print cards with it, I don't see why not. But I would check with the specifications of the printer type you are looking in to and see all the types of paper it takes. Weight or thickness I think.

I WISH I could print labels at home! My labels are gold metallic and there's definitely a learning curve with that. Also, I don't have a laser printer, i gave an inktjet. So I'd have to drive to Staples to print the labels (30 minutes away) and then go through the entire process. I used to have them printed by an Etsy store, which worked fine... but she closed shop. 🥴

I use print place I buy like 200-1000 postcards and costs me like 0.07 cents each and business cards cost me 0.02-0.03 cents. My stickers for my labels cost me 0.19 cents each. I personally think it’s worth it. I also like Avery labels for certain things i mostly buy my post cards from them bc the quality and finish I can’t replicate with my printer vs theirs which are very expensive

I use a mixture of print at home and professional labels. Most of my products for the body and bathroom such as bath salts, lip balms, body butters, etc which will be handled more by the customer have the professional prints and wax melts I print at home using an Epson eco tank. The print quality is pretty good but the alignment is sometimes off plus there's a lot of wastage when things go wrong. I would go professionally printed for wax melts but I have over a 100 different fragrances and they're always changing so it would just be too expensive. For my at home labels I use Avery, I'd love to use Online Labels as they have a good range of glossy labels however sadly Online Labels aren't vegan. I'm just about finished testing my new candles and will be printing at home until I see how they go and if they sell well compared to my wax melts.

For me it costs about 3 cents a label including printer in cost. So ill gladly pay that over being as final as using a printing company. Cause im too indecisive to have that much labels on hand. It adds up especially when you think about how many scents you have for me id have 10 so id need 10 100 labels ea at 70 to 100$ about 1000 in just labels as a one time purchase til i sell thru is too much. At least print at home i can print at my convenience and the one time price is about $20 to buy 1000 blanks. Even factoring misprints, issues and labor cost its still cheaper. At least for me misprints aren't that frequent and labor doesnt take long for me to print my labels.

I purchased avery labels and attempted to print at home i hated it! Im now ordering labels from a local small business, they are showing me samples before i place an order! They have a minimum order of 250 labels per design but the cost per unit is low. As for small quantities im looking at staples for label printing. I have small batches i make for markets so i only need 5-10 labels, which is harder to get a print shop to print

I'd recommend an Epson eco-tank. I've had mine since March, and still have some ink in the reserves. It seems to last ages and the refills aren't as costly. The printer was more expensive but the quality is so good compared to a cheaper model.
