Thank you so much! This was all very helpful. I was trying to find out about labelling weight (amount held vs actual jar size) and this answered all my questions!

Erica, this is spot on about wick testing. The difference between waiting 48 hours and 2 weeks to test wick performance can absolutely yield different results, especially with natural waxes that continue to harden. I don’t see anyone else discussing this or suppliers mentioning it- I think so many people must fall into the 48 hour trap which is actually probably more accurate for paraffin waxes only.

Hi Erica! I just found your channel and love all the content you make!m, especially as a beginner iam learning lots from your videos! I have a question, I typically make food candles from molds but i find that the soy 464 that iam using leaves too much frosting and i want to switch to a different wax thats easier to work with and wont give me that problem. Would you suggest this soy 10 would work for what iam doing? I appreciate any suggestions if you have any, thanks 🙏

When you label your candle is it the weight of just the contents of wax/FO or everything including the container? That's where my confusion is at..
@MemoryBoxCandleCo Жыл бұрын
Just the net weight! So only the weight of the FO+Wax should be on the label

Thank you , but I did not understand the difference between the value and the weight of a candle or of the wax
@taylorwagner67072 жыл бұрын
For the label, do you put the weight of the candle when it's in the melted or solid state?
@raquel_loves_her_dog Жыл бұрын
I think it would be weight of the candle in solid state since it is naturally in this state once cured. Another question to follow this, is it the total weight of the jar and wax? Or wax minus jar weight?

I have a question? Does when you pour your wax into it’s container effect the fragrance? I was under the impression that it is ok to let it cool a bit (I usually pour around 160.) I saw a video the other day and the candle makers goal was to get the fo in hot and pour hot. I hadn’t heard of this before. I am having a very hard time getting hot throw. I started making wax melts thinking this would be easier and still have not been able to figure out where I am going wrong.
@jennywawa12 жыл бұрын
Pour temp is mostly about jar adhesion and sink holes. It's cosmetic. Nothing to do with hot throw. Adding fo at the right temp, however, has everything to do with ht

It’s depends on the wax you’re using; I use coconut apricot wax; for most coconut based waxes it’s better to let the wax heat up to at least 200 degrees or higher, pour the fragrance oil immediately, stir for 30 seconds to a minute and pour hot (usually no lower than 190 degrees). I have seen some candle makers who use soy wax let the wax cool down to 160 or lower. Hope this helps!!

Dummy question here: what if the vessel holds an odd amount? I had a custom vessel mold made (I make cement vessels) and it holds 6.8 ounces. Do I label it as 7 oz and then the corresponding grams? Thank you.
@MemoryBoxCandleCo2 жыл бұрын
Always label by the exact weight! You never want to claim it has more than it does 🤍 So you can totally label by 6.8 ounces

@@MemoryBoxCandleCo Hi Erica 😊 I have a question similar to this one. I use your formula when figuring out how much wax and FO I need (I make 11oz. Candles) but I always find when I do the formula for exactly for 11oz. I always end up a little short; I measure everything out exactly for 11oz. But my candles end up weighing out to be about 10.96 oz. How would you go about estimating the right amount of wax or FO to add to get exactly 11oz. without going too much over and wasting product? I hope this makes sense. As you mentioned in regards to the above question, I don’t want to label my candles to be 11oz. if they’re actually a little under. Maybe I’m nitpicking 😂 I just like to be honest lol any advice would be greatly appreciated.
