Definitely! I've focused mostly on the panels and connectors so far, but the addition of a port punch means all sorts of hooks and hangers will be possible :)

I don’t know if anyone has suggested, but maybe have wall panels with recessed area to attach Command Strips? That way it would be good for people in dorms where you can’t put holes in the wall
@3DPrinty
@3DPrinty 22 күн бұрын
That's a good idea! I'm curious if a recessed area would provide any additional strength over just attaching the panel as is. My personal experience with using Command Strips is you can pretty much slap them on a flat surface and they work quite well :)
@radish6691
@radish6691 22 күн бұрын
@@3DPrintyI think recesses would best suit Command picture hanging strips because those strips are thicker and have the advantage of being completely hidden. Normal Command strips, while thinner, need their tail to be accessible for removal.

Ah, the kind that click together a bit like velcro? I haven't actually tried those yet - I'll need to pick some up and get some measurements for the recessed area (if nobody else remixes it before I get to it, that is)
@---ey6hj
@---ey6hj 21 күн бұрын
Yeah basically just anything that won’t require drilling into walls, and yeah I think the Velcro ones are better since they’re stronger and less chance of it accidentally coming off the wall 😀

Very nice job on this. I'm currently printing 'multiboard' system and don't mind trying Printy Panels as well. I just wish that it didn't use so much filament. I know a solid fill is required for strength but may be good to have an option of panels with holes for quick printing.
@3DPrinty
@3DPrinty 20 күн бұрын
I'm glad you like it! I recommend trying the "window" panels, which take far less filament. You can also get away with infill on the center most layers. My own prints use 3 solid bottom layers, 3 layers of infill, and 4 solid top layers (0.3mm layer heights). Good luck with your prints!

Thoughts on making Printy Panels designed to snugly store Rolling Storage Boxes? Sure, you could just put some of the boxes on a panel shelf, but I'm thinking of a shallow V-shaped indentation that can keep a box from sliding around (or off the shelf entirely).

One wonders if it would be valuable to standardize module dimensions, so that multiple modular-systems can interoperate trivially.
@3DPrinty
@3DPrinty 22 күн бұрын
That would be ideal! Unfortunately, universally applicable standards aren't easy to achieve and I didn't even have cross-compatibility top of mind when I started (that's my bad). In the end, the dimensions for Printy Panels were driven by - Panel strength - Port connector strength - Supporting common layer heights (0.2, 0.25, 0.3) - Fitting on common print beds (6x6 panels fit most printers nicely) - And ideal spacing between ports I'm paying for that oversight with tricky integration solutions 😅

@@3DPrinty @3DPrinty Things are almost always obvious in hindsight. I refactor code (programming, C) around 5 to 6 times (!) before I am happy with something I have written. And, for what it's worth, I think "Printy" is amazing. And huge kudos for making it open!

The overall form, including the core shape, is the same. The difference you see are mostly there to make it possible to print and assemble the puzzle from individual parts.
